A colleague came in to talk to me and he reminds me of the several other Jewish guys I've met and liked. But I probably would never have married a Jewish guy because their moms scare me.
Anyone else have those kind of "in another life" deals?
I married the Jewish guy but .... his mom had passed already.
The stories I hear about his mom - wow - I just think in another life - we might not have the connected family that we do! And, on top of that I'm fairly certain that she would have dug claws in with respect to our decision to adopt.

You woulda missed out on that adorable little baby!!!
i'm pretty sure i was latina in a former life. the love of beans and rice, empanadas, plantains. loved to salsa and merengue. not things most chinese girls born and raised in ohio like to do.
and i married the jewish guy. ironically, i actually really like his mother. it's his dad that drives me nuts. that's fitting though since he and i have a complete role reversal, so maybe his parents did too.
I'm sure if you did a poll, there are just as many annoying non-Jewish MIL's as there are Jewish.
While being Jewish myself, I find these type of statements quite offensive seeing as I will be a Jewish MIL someday.
Jews aren't a type of person, just a religion.
Sorry to have offended you. It's nice to see that you would be open-minded if your child married outside the religion.
Several of my friends, however, have not had that experience. One friend was pretty much brokenhearted after her boyfriend's mom told him in front of her, "What did I do wrong? Why would you date a non-Jewish girl?"

Exactly! So in as tactful of a way as possible ... I'm sorry his mom passed on, but I think otherwise DH and I would have missed out on an opportunity to be happy together and have our beautiful boy with a connected family feeling.

LOL I appreciate where you are coming from but ... I've sat in the retirement communities in Florida surrounded by old Jewish women and have an awesome Jewish family - and ... I think they might laugh and say ... but it is true. It's a style - doesn't make it wrong or bad ... We all have our own style but there is something truly unique IMO about, at the least, the older Jewish women.
