Can I b!tch about unemployment for a sec?

I was laid off in JULY - ten days before DD was born.  After having been in the hospital and off work for a month.  Fine, whatever.  Then with all the staph infection crap I had to deal with after the fact, it was almost TWELVE WEEKS before I was medically released and could file for unemployment.  Now I have SIX weeks worth of certifications that I've yet to be paid for.

And in case you've never had to deal with the Dept of Ind Relations, the 1-800 number is always busy.  But when I can get thru and press "1" to "inquire about an existing claim" I get "we are experiencing an unusually high call volume, please try your call again later" just before the freaking computer hangs up on me.  Arrrggghhhhh!!!

I'm thisclose to driving to Montgomery and standing in someone's office until I get my money!

  • Unfortunately you may have to go there...I was lucky enough to find something when I did and after trying for a few days I was really frustrated. I'm sorry you are dealing with this, I know it's rough. Have you tried their website? You can check claims and stuff there. (You may have already done that)

  • Ugh, sorry you are having to deal with this!  I hope it gets worked out soon!
  • My DH was laid off for three months this summer and it was a total nightmare to deal with them.  He has been laid off for 3 weeks since he went back to work and was told he could file for those weeks and we did, but he never got paid.  We tried calling like 5000 times but never could get through so we just gave up.  They are totally not customer service friendly!
  • grrr!!! I am so sorry that you are having a difficult time!
