Does anyone's breast milk really last 8 days in the fridge? According to kellymom, it should. The past few days, i've given LO a bottle that was 3-4 days old...I smelled them ahead of time and they seemed fine, but after drinking for a few minutes, she started screaming and refusing the bottle. Each time, I've smelled the milk and it smelled sour. Could this indicate a lipase issue? Also, any ideas why it would smell fine while cold, but sour when warmed to room temp? TIA!
Re: Sour milk
We had this exact issue! As soon as we heated up the milk she would refuse the bottle. It turns out that as the milk is heated the lipase can have a soapy/sour taste which some babies don't like. Check this out:

Now, we just give her the bottle straight from the fridge. It is cold, but she doesn't seem to mind at all.
Hope this helps!
