Trying to Get Pregnant

Temp drop with no + OPK???

I have been trying to do some research on this topic and was wondering if any of you girls would maybe know the answer.

I am on CD9 (last month was a short cycle at only 26 days and I am not 100% sure if I O'd on day 11 or 14, FF kept switching between the 2 days).  So I am making sure I am paying extra attention around this time to see if I am Oing really early. I recorded my lowest temp ever this morning, but i got a - OPK. Is that normal?? I thought when you got a temp drop that meant you were going to O??  Maybe I have this wrong though.

Also, what is a healthy follicular phase legnth? My LP is only 12 days and if I do end up Oing soon I think I might start getting a klittle concerned that my ccycle keeps getting shorter. Is anyone else experiencing this or has experienced this and still got KU.TIA

Re: Temp drop with no + OPK???

  • If it makes any difference, some people just never catch the Lh surge so OPKs never show a +.  I never have.

  • Temp drops, IMHO, mean jacksh!t.  I haven't seen many people with a consistent pattern of temp drop before O.

I means you might O or you might not.  You may not have had your LH surge yet, or you may have missed it.  I would test again this afternoon, you might get a positive.  GL!

  • TCOYF actually says that the temp drop before O isn't reliable enough to even pay attention to. Some people get it and some don't. (Although I had one this cycle.) I wouldn't worry about it.

  • some women get a "pre-O" dip" and many do not.  It's very difficult to even see until after O is confirmed anyways.  Your CM will help you determine if you are about to O.  OPKs can also tell you if you are gearing up, but not fool proof.  Your temps will only confirm if you've O'd after the fact.

  • Oh and to answer your LP question.  Anything 10 or longer is considered normal.  12 is fine.

  • Okay, thanks girls. I didn't think I should really pay any attention to the drop, but I have never had a temp that low, so I got concerned thinking I was going to O soon and then with my LP being on the shorter side my cycle would have only been like 21 or 22 days and that seems too short to me. I mean can your body even do all it needs to in such a short time to get KU?? IDK, I guess in a few more days I'll have my answer and then maybe a call to the Dr. to see what she thinks.....

  • I had that exact same thing yesterday. Lowest temp yet, but negative OPK. I was CD 12 yesterday and have never ovulated that early, so I'm just chalking it up to a weird temp. Everything I've read/heard says that 1 low or high temp doesn't mean much. That being said, I didn't have any other signs of O, like EWCM either. Our bodies can be so frustrating sometimes.... GL :)
