  • We have been under the care of an RE for 2 years...what's up?!
  • Will be soon.
  • I see an OB, RE, and MFM.

  • A friend at work suggested I go see the endo here at work. I may have to talk to my ob about this...

Does s/he follow your cycle closer, or anything more? What does s/he do different then a regular ob/gyn?

  • I just started seeing one in September after 1 year of trying, with 1 m/c being the only thing to show for it.  My OB wanted to do nothing for me until we hit the 1 year mark from the m/c.  Turns out, my RE dx'd me w/ an underactive thyroid and DH has abnormal morphology.  At first glance, we seemed very normal and were just having bad luck, but once all the testing was done, there actually was a problem.  I am so glad I went to the RE....they do so much more for you than your OB can.  I would highly recommend going to one, especially if you've been trying for a while.  Good luckSmile

  • yes - I was referred to mine after 2nd m/c for further analysis of test results and more testing. He is doing closer monitoring and administering my rounds of Femara, and then will do IUI/IVF if we choose to go that route. When I get KTFU (okay, if . . .sheesh), he will then monitor me til end of 1st trimester and then kick me back to regular OB unless there are multiples or issues.
m/c#1 07/16/08 (11 weeks), m/c#2 10/10/08 (8 weeks). and then nothing since except every test possible (no answers). IUI#1 and #2: BFNs Super lucky to be buddies with Peetie. Our out of nowhere, surprise DD born 5/29/2011
  • Some of you anwsered my next question, what was the criteria to be refered? (As you can see in my siggy) We have been trying for over a year with two losses. Is there more to it then that?

  • We were referred to an RE by my OB because we had zero success after 3 years with no birth control and 2 years of full blown trying.  My OB was hesitant but I insisted.  Needless to say...DH was diagnosed with moderate OATS in Dec. 07.  The RE will see you much more often and that also depends on the course of treatment.  Either way...I was going in almost every other day until I Oed or after having my IVF.  They watch you very closely, monitor your meds, and I had u/s done with almost every visit.  Good Luck!
  • FYI, and Endo and a RE aren't always the same thing.  I've been going to an Endo for 6 years for an underactive thyroid.  I miscarried in July, but my Endo didn't have anything to do with it.  Although, I only go once a year for b/w and a check up.  So, I mentioned it to her and she's doing some additional testing and monitoring my levels more closely so it's not a cause of m/c next time, but make sure you are seeing the right type of M.D.  To just go see an endo may be helpful, but they won't run all the same tests or have the same reproductive experience as an RE.  Good luck!

I went to an RE.  We discussed options (clomid, etc).  They monitored my cycle with midcycle u/s and b/w to confirm O.
