My RE does not do testing until u have 3 m/c?

I think this is insain! I would like testing done now and hopefully find a problem that can be fixed instead of doing another iui next month..

I made appointment with my GYN for this friday and hoping that she will test me since my RE seems not to care!! I didnt even get to talj with doctor, I saw the nurse!! I'm so mad right now!

What would you ladies do?

It's f'ing cruel, is what it is. No, no your suffering is not really my problem until you go through it one more time.

They weren't going to "count" my early loss (THROAT PUNCH) but I basically threatened to riot and now magically it "counts."

Get your GYN to do whatever they can, you have every right to seek answers about your body and your chances for a healthy pregnancy.

No advice from me. We asked my OB for the testing after our second loss, and the only thing she would offer was chromosomal testing. But after our third loss a few months later, they couldn't ship us out fast enough to a MFM for as much testing as we needed to get an answer.

Others may know more about this, but I think that insurance doesn't cover that testing until 3 losses. I think it's terrible to have to go through it 3 times before someone can give you any answers. My RE did a lot of b/w the first time I went, but I don't know if I got the full RPL testing. Sorry you are going through this. I hope you can get some answers soon.

While it is partly the doctor's fault, I know our insurance doesn't cover the full testing until 3 losses....I guess, if we were willing to pay out of pocket, maybe my doctor would go ahead with the testing. DH and I chatted about this and decided not to think about testing at this stage. However, if I have another loss, we'll definitely consider it.

We were willing to pay out of pocket ~ after 2 I had a plethora of blood tests done ~ this is where they detected the MTHFR. It cost about $500.

'Luckily' (yeah right) ~ we had a CP in august ~ which put us in the 3 loss category ~ and then more testing!

I cant believe how insane this is..when i asked the nurse 2 my RE offcie she said listen this is very common to have 2-3 m/c's..I felt like punching her!!!

Hopefully my GYN will help out! Can I call my insurance and ask if its covered? will it hurt?

It's kind of like how they won't put in a stop light at an intersection until there have been enough fatalities to justify the cost.

My OB said ACOG defines repeat pregnancy loss as two losses in a row. She said we could be as agressive as I wanted with the testing. I'm sorry your RE feels differently. Can you look for a different RE?

I may start looking for another RE I hear that Dr Check is good and he is 10 mins from me. What does ACOG stand for?

FWIW, I think it varies from doctor to doctor. My OB told me it used to be they wouldn't do testing until the 3rd loss but now after the second loss is becoming more common. That being said, I went to my RE after one loss and she did a whole host of tests on me even though i had "only" had 1 loss. Since she diagnosed me with PCOS, it was all covered by insurance as well. If you shop around for doctors, you may be able to find someone that will be more sensitive to your need for answers sooner rather than later.
