Hey ladies. I am doing some research and found another great practice that delivers at my preferred hospital. They seem to be more "on top of things" like wanting to find the HB sooner, a sooner 1st u/s, etc. I was thinking of calling up there and seeing what my options could be. Is it bad to switch Doctors? I have only gone for one appt to my previous Doc and just had blood work done, and went over my health history. Any thoughts?
Re: Has anyone switched OB's?
I have switched doctors twice. I really want to go somewhere I feel very comfortable. I don't think there is anything wrong with switching doctors.
Was it a smooth process for you? Or was it a major headache?

I'm switching OBs.
I see no harm in it, as your patient files can be requested and transferred to your new OB. If you have more confidence in the new office and they accept your insurance, go for it.
It is in no way "bad" to switch doctors. If you've found another practice that better fits with what you want for your pregnancy/birth, I think you absolutely should switch. If the new practice is taking patients and is covered by your insurance, there is NO REASON not to change. The old practice will not be offended, and you will not have to explain yourself to anyone. Just call up their records department and have them send you a release form to forward your file to the new practice once you have an appt. there.
I have my first appointment today with Boston doctors. I live about an hour and a half away from where I work. Out where I live, they won't see me until December. I thought I would start in the city and then do a 'transfer apt' out where I live in a month or so . From what I undestand, you just need to have the first doc fax or send everything to the second doc.
One tip: Never take anything for granted. If you told something important to doc 1 definitely tell it to doc 2- I find that many docs start from scratch with you and don't spend too much time on reading your old records (this is from my experience with reg. docs not obgyn).
