NBR- when do you put up your christmas tree?

DH and I are having our first Christmas in our house together. last year we were in an apartment, and had a real tree, so it went up closer to Christmas. this year we are investing in a fake tree to make life easier as the years go, and id like to start a tradition as to when we put it up. i know some people put it up the week before Thanksgiving, some the week after, and some closer to Christmas day. I kinda like the idea of the week before Thanksgiving, because i love Christmas and think the tree would look so great with the big feast! (we would decorate it after thanksgiving, btw). so, when does yours go up??

  • Around December 15th. But I fvcking hate Christmas and only do it to entertain DS and DH

  • no tree this year. we have a small home and the baby's bassinet/pack-n-play is in the christmas tree spot.

we think it's a pretty good trade this year!

  • Every year we go to the tree farm on Thanksgiving day. We put the tree up that night. I can't wait!
  • Since DH and I have off the day after Thanksgiving (and we both hate to shop back Friday sales) we do all of our decorating then. Its perfect for us!

Although this year, we have to wait. We are making settlement on our house in Decmeber, so no decorations til we move into out new home!

  • I am thinking the first or 2nd weekend in December.  I cannot wait to decorate!!

  • I don't remember when we put it up. Probably the week of Thanksgiving, maybe. I think it's a hassle to put up, and it looks awesome, so I like it being up for as long as possible without it being "weird."
  • The day after Thanksgiving. Put on some on some music, light candles, drink some wine, and tree goes up and stays up until first week in January. Hoping KJ will like the Christmas lights this year.

I love the tree and I love having it up for as long as possible.

  • DH really wanted to put it up today (?!!?!?!?!?) but I talked him into waiting until Thanksgiving. We got a ton of stuff on clearance after Christmas last year, including a 9 ft fake tree, so we're both anxious to use all our new stuff!
  • The weekend after Thanksgiving. As soon as the turkey's done, I'm ready to decorate!

We had it up the first week in November last year, though. DH left for Iraq right before Thanksgiving, so we had our Christmas celebration a little early.

  • No tree this year. We are moving around xmas from Georgia to NY so we figured our baby will only be a few weeks old, not like she will miss it.

Normally we go tag a tree on Thanksgiving and pick it up a few days later.

  • We've always used a fake tree (not fab at all, it was a hand-me-down from his gma, and it was from the 1970's. Heaviest thing EVER), but this year, we're going real baby. I'm so pumped. We'll probably get one the first week of December. But we'll see. Plans will most likely change if/when this baby decides to make her arrival.

  • My birthday is Dec. 12th.  My parents never started Christmas until after my birthday.  So we always got our tree the weekend after the 12th and it went up that night.  I'm not sure if we're going to do a real or big one this year because we have a small apt and there's a ton of baby stuff here now so it'll be kinda cramped.  But we'll put up a small fake one around the 13th, (also depending on when LO decides to show up).

  • We always put ours up the weekend after Thanksgiving.  I have a friend that has already started decorating though.  If you want to put it up, I say go for it.
  • It's tradition for us to do it the day after Thanksgiving.
  • Week after Thanksgiving, given LO doesn't show up that week

Us too, haha! We'll have a small one in our front bay window. We hope to be in a larger home next Christmas, though.

  • the day after Thanksgiving.  We have always done this as we always knew the whole family would be together to do it.
  • typically the first or second weekend of dec.   i like it up for a few weeks before christmas-puts me in the mood/spirit etc.   my parents always put theirs up around dec. 8 (as that was the day my dad proposed) such a cute tradition.

  • The weekend after Thanksgiving usually.

  • Usually Thanksgiving weekend. Either that or the first weekend in December. We always get a live tree, so doing it any earlier isn't feasible, but any later stinks b/c you don't get to enjoy it long enough! I don't know what we're going to do this year though- depends on when LO decides to make her appearance. And we're going to have to figure out where to put the tree, b/c it's usual corner is currently home to the pack n' play.
  • Usually the weekend after Thanksgiving.  I'm hoping to start the weekend before, but it will probably be the weekend after.

And that could change based on when the kid decides to come.

  • The weekend after Thanksgiving but I may convince DH of trying for the weekend before.

  • I put mine up today!!!!
  • Usually the first week in December. It totally bugs me to see Christmas decor before Thanksgiving. Respect the turkey!

  • We usuallu get ours soemtime durring the weekend after Chriistmas, let it sit outside a couple of days and then put it up durring the week.  I'm not sure how we are going to handle it this year though since I am going to be induced probably the day after Thanksgiving.  I am going to try to get my other decorations up the weekend before Thanksgiving.

  • We usually get the decorations out the weekend after Thanksgiving and then cut a real tree the following week.
  • the weekend after thanksgiving.
  • We put our tree and decorations up the week following Thanksgiving whenever we both have time off together from work.

Personally, I love Christmas time but I think that the stores are INSANE for already having stuff up!!  A few store have had stuff up since the end of September.  While I love Christmas I think it's a bit ridiculous for the stores to completely skip Thanksgiving and the end of fall!  I'll be burnt out before December even gets here!

  • we decorate the sunday after thanksgiving. although this year i put the tree up today. i'm going to be too pg to do it after thanksgiving this year
  • Usually a day or two after Thanksgiving.
