TTC After a Loss

newbie like questions ... humor me this Monday morning (got kindof long)

Hi there Ladies,

I have not posted here yet, I still hang out on the M/PL board mostly.  As you can see from my signature ... 4 months ago I lost my daughter Hope.  To get pregnant with Hope I read TCOYF and charted  ... so I do know the how the body works basics.

With all that said ...
I know it means very little, but I have always had a very reliable cycle.  Before being pregnant with Hope, and so far since after.  I got my period 8/6 after having Hope, and have had it every 28-30 days since ... until this month.  I have had that its coming, its coming feeling ... and nothing.  Day 35.  So like a good bumpie I ran out and got some tests.  Took the first one Saturday.  Took it, looked at it, it was negative and moved on.  An hour later my husband brings it in and says look - it was then positive.  I KNOW you are not suppose to look at it more then 10 minutes later, but I would be lying to you ladies if I did not say I got that quiver of excitement.  This morning I took another one and negative.

So I know, I am not pregnant.  But then what is going on?  Did anyone else have crazy cycles after deliverying early?  Is my body still getting back on track?

We were told we had to wait until January to TTC.  I intended to start charting this cycle just to be sure everything was working before the TTC months start ... now I am just waiting around.

I guess this is a very long intro, and not many questions that anyone without a crystal ball could answer.  But I think I am going to start hanging out over here too.  I need to start thinking along the TTC lines again.

  • i had the same experience last cycle.  it went 52 days and i got an evap line around 10 or 11dpo.  if i hadn't been charting i would have thought i was pg but i knew that i didn't O till CD 37.  oh and that was my 14 cycle since my m/c.

so moral of the story is:  you cycles will never be *exactly* the same again.  keep charting and GL!    sorry for your loss.

  • I think if you didn't chart this month, it's very hard to tell.  It's likely that despite being very regular, your system had a hiccup this month and was a bit delayed.  Who knows.  all sorts of things can cause it - for me, if i get any sort of illness, my ovulation is delayed.  Just like that.  So maybe something like that happened?

I'd wait a week, take another test, then if it's negative, lob a call into the doc to see what he says.

This.  My cycles still change and my lp is never the same length for any of my cycles...  Last month it was 14 days the week before it was12 days... ugh.

  • It isn't unusual to "skip" a period, even when you haven't had a major event like a loss or a birth....even if you are very regular.  If it bothers you do as PP said and call the DR.
