If you've never heard of the German pickle, the story goes like this--on Christmas Eve, a pickle ornament is hidden somewhere inside the tree. First thing on Christmas morning, the kids look for the pickle, and the lucky one that finds it gets an extra gift and good luck for the year.
You should see my brothers and I searching for that damn pickle on Christmas morning. We still do it to this day, at the ages of 28, 34, and 40 years old. Can't wait until my niece, nephew, and our LO are old enough to find the pickle!
1, one gift Christmas Eve - usually pajamas and a new book to read that night.
2. Ravioli Dinner (Italian tradition in my family)
3. baking cookies
4. shopping at the "children's store" where you can buy stuff for 50 cents and gift wrap it for your family. I treasured getting stuff from my Godson. He would buy a little bird house that one of the kid's made and would wrap it himself with tons of tape and paper. Too cute.
5. Goin to see the Live Nativity
6. Opening up Presents on Christmas Day
7. Giving to others (having him shop for a toy for the less-fortunate) or put to gether care packages.
just a few....
God Bless our sweet baby James.
Our son, born 11/22/09.
Unplanned, Emergency C-section
"Wearing his BING CROSBY clothes and crooning...buuuh buuh buuuh"
1. Pizza Eve- the whole fam comes over to our house and we order pizza, make veggie and fruit pizza and other yummies, and overeat and play poker and Wii.
2. Caramels, candy and cookies- We always make and hand wrap homemade caramels, all sorts of other candies (buckeyes, hard tack candy, peanut brittle) and bake and decorate my aunt's "famous" sugar cookies.
Just noticed, all my traditions revolve around food... lol
Our LO will open 1 present each year, which will be a new pair of pajamas for xmas morning. Also, growing up, my boyfriend's father always read them T'was the Night Before Christmas...so we're looking for the perfect copy to have ready for our little girl. Also, I like that some people said toys for tots...my dad always donated through his work, but it wasn't a 'tradition'. I think we'll do that, as I always feel like xmas is too over the top, and some people have nothing In my family, we always left our milk and cookies for Santa, and carrots for the reindeer. Yay!

Us too! We also all get a new ornament each year. It's fun to go back through all of them when we are putting the tree up each year.
