hardly able to eat

hi everyone, we're expecting in june and we are so excited....

ever since i got morning sickness, it's become very difficult to eat and drink....i try to eat a handful of food every hour or so and that helps....but i seriously miss real meals.....

anyone else experiencing this???!

nervous about not providing babies enough nutrition. :(

Re: hardly able to eat

  • I was told it's better to eat several smaller portions throughout the day...

  • If you are able to eat and drink and take you prenatal, you will be fine.  If there comes a time you can't keep things down call your doctor.

I had to eat really small meals at first, and now without Zofran I can't keep things down.

  • This happened with me a little bit and I have started stuffing my face whenever I can.  I would make sure you're taking your PNV so that your babies (congrats, twins are awesome by the way) are getting enough essential nutrients and eat whenever the mood strikes you and as much as you can.  I know it's hard but if you go for things that appeal to you it might help you get more stuff down.

  • My OB said that as long as I'm taking my PNV the baby gets enough nutrition at this point and to just eat whatever I can keep down.  Your babies are very tiny right now and need very little nutrition from you.  I worry about the same thing though.  I'm on Zofran and still throwing up at least once a day.

This.  I've read that it's ok, baby doesn't need much right now.  But I understand worrying.  I've lost 4 pounds (any other time I'd be so happy) since I got my BFP.  But I've heard it's kind of common in the first trimester.  Eat what you can keep down.  Ginger might help.

  • You're baby will be fine.  You may feel awful but, babies are very resiliant, especially this early on.  I'm having the same thing and had the same thing with ds.  Are you able to keep liquids down mostly?  That's the most important thing.  It sounds like you're are keeping some food down so that's good.

    HTH.

  • I'm in the same boat - so glad lots of other ladies answered, b/c I feel like all I've been able to do is take it one meal at a time.  Despite feeling so gross everyday, the foods that appeal change all the time.  I haven't thrown up, yet, but this nausea is just awful.

    Congrats on the twins!
