Babies: 3 - 6 Months

when to take out infant head-support insert in carseat?

We have the Graco Snugride.  When do you take out the infant-head support insert?  Wow this weeks seems like a whirlwind!  We have taken out the head inserts in our bouncer and swing...and he has started doing so many new things!  My baby is growing up! TIA!

  • We took ours out last week.  She was wanting to look around more and did seem hot with it in.
  • We're such bad parents, we just took the newborn insert out yesterday. And only because she pooped all over it and I was looking in the manual for cleaning directions. Then I read that it's not supposed to be used over 11lb.

    Whoops.

  • We actually took hers out at like 2 weeks... She was pretty big baby to start (9 lbs at birth) and has always had a very strong and steady head and neck.  Literally, she was on her tummy lifting her head up to look around from day one.  That thing always made her sweaty and uncomfortable.

Yikes!  DD's 14 and it's till in there - guess I'll be taking it out tomorrow morning...

I'm surprised with all the warnings plastered all over everything else that they didn't have that printed on the pad.

  • Just took mine out this weekend. I have the Chicco Keyfit tho....DD was 12 lbs. at her 4 month appointment. She has a lot more room now and looks more comfy.
  • We were discussing this today.  Guess I'll be taking it out in the morning.

Same here. I had no idea. I am going to take it out tonight.

  • I always try to remember this and I can never remember.  I'm thinking he was about 6 weeks.  He was just so squished with it and got so sweaty.  He seemed so much happier in the carrier without it.

  • wow- glad i asked!  took it out last night...since he is almost 14lbs!  :)
