Yesterday my mom and sister told me neither of them have ever gone into labor. My mom had 3 kids and was induced twice and had a c section once, and my sister was induced twice. Neither went into labor on their own ever. So I was just curious if it means I am doomed or maybe I actually will go into labor myself? Did you have similar complications to your family's? Is it at all hereditary? I was just contemplating this since it seems I will be still here at 42 weeks..lol
(I know this is the 3rd tri board..but I know there's lots of 2nd/3rd time moms and people who just still read the boards but had their baby here..I didn't want to venture to 0-3..I am scared of them. lol)
Re: Was your labor like your mom's/sisters?
So far somewhat... somewhat not.
My mom went past her EDD with me and my siblings... I'm already two days past due.
But she said she never had bloody show or lost her mucus plug for any of her three pregnancies, and I've been having both symptoms for a week now.
I'm really interested to see what other people have to say!
Uh oh! My sister was in labor for over 30 hours too. She's my half sister though..so maybe I won't get those genes lol
Mine was like neither. I labored forever 24+ hours, and pushed forever 3+ hours, and had a c/s.
Both went into labor and had their babies within a few hours.
i was 11 days early. molly was exactly 11 days early. so-- yep!
I wish my labor was like my mom's, she had a natural birth with me but every time she would sit up to push she couldn't feel anything below the waist. Unfortunaltly for me the natural epi is not hereditary.
But I did go into labor and had a similar labor time as my mother did. I wouldn't worry about it to much yet though, your not even 30 weeks.
Nothing like my mom's. She went into labor onto her own with both me and my sister.
My birth was a little like my sister's. I had to be induced with my first like she was. However, I progressed a little bit faster and was only labored for 12 hours. She labored longer than that. I sincerely hope that my second will be a lot different than hers. She was induced due to GD, was in labor for over 24 hours, and had to have a C-section because the baby was breech and not one of her doctors or nurses who checked her noticed. They noticed after they broke her water and then checked the position of the baby. That still makes me mad!!
I am not scary!
Both my mom's labors started with her water breaking, and mine did too.
no. my mom birthed 4 kids with no drugs.
my sister birthed 3 boys with no drugs.
i got drugs at 7cms.
my first labor was nothing like either of my mom's. both of her labors came on without medical intervention-of course no idea how far along she was as in the 70's ultrasounds etc weren't really around. with my sister they figured she would be born anywhere from Jan.-March
With me-she walked a golf course the day before, went into labor around midnight and i was born around 8am i think. with my sister she was having contractions around 3am and my sister was born at 8:30 or so.
me i was induced at 41 weeks 2 days and had my daughter shortly before midnight going into 41 weeks 5 days!
so nothing like my mom!
my mom also has no stretch marks and i do-so much for that being hereditary!
I think so. I know my mom had easy and fast deliveries. My sister has had 3 children, all vaginal deliveries. However, she was induced with her first because she wasn't progressing fast enough. Her deliveries were relatively quick too, with her last one, flying out:)...however, I guess that happens when you have 3 kids!
My delivery with DS was relatively easy considering some of the awful stories that I have heard out that. However, I have an incompetent cervix and was having pre-term labor ALL pregnancy, so my body was READY. I don't know if it is heredity or just because of my high-risk pregnancy.....we'll see how this one turns out. good luck!
