maternity clothes ?

When did you/will you buy maternity clothes? I don't need them yet, obviously, haven't even broken down to buying a bella band. Just curious if I'll need them for Xmas time (around 14 weeks), only because I'll be up North and will need winter clothes.

Oh and does anyone know of a place to get a "future fan" sports shirt? We're going to a Patriots game and I thought that'd be so cute but I can't find one!!

Re: maternity clothes ?

  • i broke down and just got a couple of pairs of pants this weekend. it just seemed easier to be comfortable.

  • I had to break down last weekend and buy maternity jeans. I woke up one day and nothing fit!!!

  • By 10 weeks I bought my first pair of maternity jeans.  They are so comfortable!  I just roll down the panel or wear my bella band with them for a tighter fit.

  • i only bought a few tees. i'm trying really hard not to buy jeans. they are just too ugly and expensive.

i went to goodwill and bought a couple pairs of jeans a size too big and a bella band!

  • by 14 weeks, you should have a little baby bump, but it might not be overly noticable to anyone else, even though your clothes will be uncomfortable. I bought a few shirts that are too big, but comfy and I wear them around the house mostly. anything with an empire waist will give you enough room to be comfortable but also look nice during the inbetween phase. I am getting a bella band this week, my jeans are just not comfortable anymore.

  • By 10 weeks, but I don't like bella bands.
  • I don't need maternity yet, but I am planning on stocking up on some basics during the after-Thanksgiving sales. I also ordered a Bella Band which should arrive this week. I want to be prepared as I don't know when my bump will appear!
  • I have been wearing skirts and stretchy pants they feel so nice Big Smile
  • I'll be 14 weeks tomorrow and I'm still fine in my bella band for all of my clothes. No real bump, but some of my pants are too tight to button. I would hold off on buying stuff until you're a little further along if I were you. The return policy at most maternity places won't allow you to return stuff for very long if it ends up not working out. (Even Gap and Old Navy are 45 days)

For those having problems with their bella bands, try putting it on first, before your pants, and then folding it down over the top. This works to keep them up well when you have no real bump. Also, I bought the version of the bella with lace trim at the bottom - it looks like i'm layering with a lace cami and even my good friends who know I'm pregnant didn't guess it was a band instead of a cami.

  • I went to motherhood yesterday because my regular jeans were just not comfy anymore! I tried on 6 pairs, and there they were the pair that I just did not want to take off and they did not look bad either! My first purchase and very happy I did!
  • I bought 2 pairs today.  I have a couple pairs of pants that are starting to get tight.  (I know it's my ute expanding because I haven't gained any pounds).  JC Penny has a good sale on maternity pants: buy 1 get 1 for $1.  The price of the pants are $36-40 before the sale.  I don't care if they're not the best quality, I just need them for 6-7 months.  They also had some cute maternity sweaters with the same sale.  Old Navy might have some good pants on clearance too.  You could also try a bella band with your regular pants.

  • I got a pair of maternity pants on Friday and I will say that I truly need them! None of my old pants fit, and I have pants in 4 sizes due to a 60 lb. weight loss last year. EVERYTHING is up in my belly. I had my belly pop out right at 13 weeks...but then again I'm housing two!
  • I bought maternity jeans last weekend because my regular jeans were getting uncomfortable. I felt like I always had to be sucking in my belly.

I got the jeans at H & M and they are SO comfortable!!!!  So happy I bough them.
