1st Trimester

New Dr.

I decided to switch doctors back when I had my last annual in the beginning of the year b/c I wasn't crazy about my old dr. and the staff was rude and terrible.  Plus I wasn't fond of the hospital she was affiliated with and I knew eventually that would be an issue.

I found a dr. I think I'm gonna like, at least so far everything seems promising (good hospital, great staff on the phone, and good reviews online).  Problem is, they won't take me till I'm 8 weeks.... that's 12/3.  I wish I could get in sooner to make sure I like them!  It's killing me to wait!

Any ideas how I could possibly get in sooner!?  I already tried to go in for the H1N1, but they don't have it yet.

Re: New Dr.

  • My midwife also doesn't see people until 8 weeks.  If that is their policy, I don't see how you will be able to get in sooner unless you find another practice.

I know that it is nerve wracking to have to wait so long, but they must want to see ladies at 8 weeks for a reason.  Good luck!

  • Same here, I begged to be seen sooner but they said unless there is concern they see you in 8 weeks! I'm glad you found someone you like...this person will see the good, the bad, and the ugly so I'm sure it's got to make you feel better this one is better for you!
  • Each doctor has their own policy - my OBGYN saw me at 6 weeks to confirm pregnancy and go over medical history, etc. My BFF's OBGYN saw her at 9 weeks to do an U/S and family history.
  • If you like the new practice then I would just wait. Honestly there's not a whole lot of benefit in going in much earlier - before 6 weeks you won't see the baby on an u/s.

I had a confirmation appointment at 4 weeks which was really just a waste of my time, then I switched to a new OB who doesn't see patients until 8 weeks.

I know it's a long ways out there but try to be patient.
