I don't really belong in this discussion since I am in Canada. I will say this though, I do love the fact that my health care is paid for (though I have never known any different) but I do agree with your point here. Working in a hospital that performs abortions I see my fair share of girls who think that abortion is a form of birth control. I understand having a slip up once in your life but when you are in a few times a year, that is unacceptable.

This. Also, I am thinking it will be a long road before its passes in the Senate...so while this is a major step, it still has a long way to go.
Same applies for me, and it does still have a ways to travel. Good point.
They actually increased the amount. It's now over $500k for individuals and $1 million for couples.
We're not going to be impacted by it, and I think it's going to be a long time before anything changes. It still needs to pass in the Senate, and if it does, they still have to combine the bills and vote again.
I am not a fan of it in any form. It's full of crap like the abortion part and vending machine restriction.

If you are an adult and you don't know that a sticky bun is loaded full of sugar, calories and saturated fat--you're an idiot and you deserve to die of the heart attack heading your way. We don't need every vending machine to display the food information for every product it contains.
He's the single greatest thing I've done in my life and reminds me daily of how fun (and funny) life can be. He's turned out pretty swell for having such a heartless and evil mother.

Please for the love of Pete, start doing a little research before you mis-quote stuff like this. The bill that passed the House last night does NOT include federal funding for "elective abortions".
And since no one is apparently doing any of their own research on this particular piece of heresay, a little help: it's called the Stupak Amendment.

The bill that was passed last night has gone through numerous revisions since then.
From this morning:
WASHINGTON D.C. - On Saturday, Nov. 7, the House of Representative passed the Democrats? health care bill, also known as the Affordable Health Care for America Act.
The bill was passed with a vote of 220-215.
"The vote in the U.S. House of Representatives tonight brought us one step closer to health care for all Americans, a goal that President Teddy Roosevelt first pushed for in 1912," said Rep. Bart Stupak (D-MI), who voted in favor of the bill. "As health care costs financially drain families, businesses and government, the time to reform our health care system and ensure all Americans have access to quality, affordable health care is now."
The House also passed the Stupak amendment to the Democrats? health care bill was passed in a bipartisan vote of 240 to 194. The amendment prohibits the use of federal funding for abortion.
Rep. Dave Camp (R-MI) was one to vote in favor of the amendment.
"I supported the Stupak Amendment as a person who believes in the Right to Life, but also because I believe taxpayers who oppose abortions on morally or religious grounds should not be forced to fund such activity," Camp said. "The passage of this amendment, however, will not change my opposition to this bill, which is a government takeover of health care."
I am very concerned if/when this passes in the Senate. My husband has MS and we are currently covered by his employer's plan and it is fantastic and I love his neurologist.
I am worried that his company will eventually drop the coverage because of the government option. If this were to happen, we could switch to my company's plan, but it is not nearly as comprehensive as his existing plan and it is extremely expensive. If we had to switch plans, he would also need to change doctors which is not something we want to do.
I am even less sure of what his care would be like if we went under a government plan. Frankly, the idea terrifies me.
Got to agree with Mrs. Lib. You are being pretty ignorant on this one. Research should be current. She even pointed you in the right direction. Try looking at the actual Stupak/Pitts Amendment.
That being said. I will be contacting my senators to try to keep it out of the final bill.

That's the text of the House bill, which passed last night. The Senate bill is slightly different, but given the fact that it literally just hours ago was passed to the Senate, they don't have a 100% current version online.
Not a fan. At all.
& it might put my husband out of a job. He works as an IT guy for a private healthcare company, and if they get pushed out of business by a public option, he is SOL.
