HELP.... need grocery store ideas!!

We need to go grocery shopping today and DH is busy with a big project so that leaves me and just the thought of most unprepared foods makes me want to hug the toilet.  Any ideas of some things I could get for dinners this week?  For some reason the baby is attacking my belly and butt with a vengeance this morning so the thought of food shopping is really grossing me out.  I need some support here!!  TIA!  Ick!

  • Stouffers makes some really good frozen casseroles for around $6 (4-5 servings). We've tried the beef lasagne, chicken lasagne, and  chicken veggie/noodle. I also buy the frozen veggies that steam in the bag in the microwave.  Its easy to pair the frozen veggies with grilled chicken or pork chops. If you have a slow cooker, just get a roast and toss in some carrots, potatoes (or sweet potatoes) and onions. If you don't have a slow cooker, they make those roast-in-a-bag things you find in the spice aisle that come with seasoning.

  • Oh man sorry!!! I am the same way I have been doing crock pots meats, I buy pre-marinated ones at Trader joes and sick them in the crock pot all day. Sometimes the smell of it cooking makes me gag but I keep the windows open and burn a salt city candle to help. then I use the leftover meat the next day for tacos, my kids love it.

I also have become a fan of frozen foods at Trader Joes and frozen Lasagna Good luck!!

  • I could only eat breaded meat for most of pg 1, so I already told DH to buy chicken nuggets today.  I also lived on chicken noodle soup and saltine crackers for a while.  I loved grilled cheese sandwiches for about two weeks, and then couldn't eat them the rest of the pregnancy.

I gained a ton of weight, so I'm not saying this is the policy you should follow, but I had to eat often to keep something in my belly.  During 1st tri, I craved salty foods like chex mix and baked lays potato chips.  I also ate mac & cheese, breadsticks and McChicken sandwiches and french fries.

It may take some trial & error for you to find which foods are best for you.  GL!  I found that I often had to switch things up after a few days.

  • Thank you!!!  Actually the thought of using the crock pot doesn't disgust me quite like the thought of browning hamburg or pan searing chicken so I think I might try these ideas (if I can get my belly and bum to cooperate long enough to get me to the supermarket... lol!  Sorry if TMI).

  • I need to go to the grocery store too and I just haven't the nerve to do it yet this weekend.  The last time I went, I did okay.  The time before that I had to leave in the middle of the shopping trip b/c I got sick.  My problem is that I don't know what I will want to eat until I get hungry.  This has made meal planning nearly impossible.  I'm going to try to take DH with me to the store so that he can pick out some real meal options.

Here is a good crock pot recipe and pretty healthy too.  It's not like regular chili, more like a stew really.  I'm planning on making it tonight.  DH loves it.  The only thing is that you need to brown the turkey meat, but I'm going to make DH do that part for me :-)
