  • They make the one w/colace in it (although that might be what you're already on) and I would suggest taking it at night.  I am able to tolerate it much better if I take it before bed.

  • For the sickness, I've heard of taking them at night before bed -- but that of course won't help you with the constipation.  GL when you talk to your doctor, hope he or she has some good suggestions for you.
  • Mine is about 2 inches long and about an inch thick.  I can't stomach the thought of swallowing it.
  • I was starting to feel sick taking regular vitamins before I was KU.  Then I got a prescription PNV (don't know if that made a difference or not), but made sure to change to taking it with dinner so I always have food in me first.  (Was taking it in the morning...whether or not I eat breakfast is a lot more variable for me.)  Haven't had a problem since!

    Hope you feel better...GL!

  • I know if I don't take vitamins with meals they make me feel sick.  Try a glass of milk or small meal.

I take Raw Vitamin Code Pre-natal, which are supposed to be easier for your body to accept and digest.  They are uncooked, untreated, and don't contain any fillers. They are a little more expensive then a generic brand but I really like them.

  •  I'm going to be no help here:

I have some OTC pnvs that I've been using.  I got them at whole foods and they're supposed to be easier to digest because they're food-based.  They smell horrible, which makes my stomach turn, and I'm supposed to get 6x day.  Needless to say with the smell, I've only been choking down 2-3 day.  Sorry, baby. We'll get some rx ones from Dr.

  • thanks guys, i let you know what the doc says too in case anyone else has the same problem
  • Mine make me violently ill so I take them before bed. I am just doing the women one a day prenatal for now till I get to my first OB appt.

  • The only ones I have tolerated well are the Target generic ones, and I take one before bed.

  • Taking vitamins suck!! I actually upchucked them 3 nights ago and I'm not even pregnant yet! Ugh (although to be honest I tried to take them before dinner, empty stomach = bad idea!)

The only tip I have for you is that its easier to swallow them if you drink through a straw.

Yes, for the sickness i've heard to take them before bed :)

  • My doctor is fine with me taking 2 chewable flinstone with iron vitamins plus a DHA supplement.  Even before getting pregnant I couldn't stomach regular vitamins but have had no problems with these!

  • I started taking some as soon as I threw my BC out. I'm using One-a-Day's prenatal, which is actually two pills a day. One is the regular PNV and the other is a fish oil thingy. I haven't had any problems getting sick from them, but I do take them at night to avoid that altogether.
  • Couldn't even stomach them before I was pregnant.  Now I take 1 Flinstone Gummie and 3x100mg Folic Acid, Vitamin D and B12 injections (I have pernicious anemia).  Much much much better than taking those massive pills.

  • I have to take them right before I go to bed or I will throw them up. I have been having "All day sickness" that won't let up. I had this with my last baby but not the ones before that.
