First Period after D&C?

Hello, I just had a D&C yesterday. Our baby stopped growing after 7 weeks. I'm wondering how soon after a D&C anyone had gotten their period? I'm just trying to mentally prepare.

my doctor told me it could be as long as 6-8 weeks and you will find ladies on this board that hate to wait that long. It took me 33 days to get my period but even since then my cycles have really messed up. Sorry about your loss!

I got mine 28 days after the D&C, but I was mentally prepared for it to take up to 8 weeks.

I'm sorry for your loss. You should stick around here as we all know what you're going through.

I didn't have a D&C but I got my first period about 4-5 weeks after the m/c bleeding stopped.

Thanks Ladies - I thought it would get easier day by day - but today I feel like I've gone backwards. Fingers crossed we can do it again without waiting a year.

You'll have good days and bad days, there's no rhyme or reason to when. But eventually, you'll start having more good days than bad days and it will be all uphill from there. Best of luck to you.

5 wks----acutally I think it was like a day or two shy of being 6 wks.....not certain w/o looking it up......

Sorry for your loss -- It took 7 weeks after my D&C, felt like forever. I had never been so happy to see it! Unfortunately, my cycles have been a been longer since the D&C but I don't think that's true for everyone.

It also took me 7 weeks (50 days), which was a total pain! (Another count was that it took 33 days from when I completely stopped spotting from the D&C, which was odd starting and stopping spotting -- sorry if TMI). You can get through it! I'm sorry you're going through this.

More info -- my second cycle was 35 days and my third cycle was 32 days. It looks like I'm slowly getting back to my normal 28 day cycle.

Up to 12 weeks is considered normal. Sorry for your loss.

So sorry for your loss. Af was 33 days post d&c for me. It was different then my normal periods, but not overly heavy or bad. It lasted about 4 days. I had a few emotional days post d&c that I blame on the rapid hormone loss. After my levels reached zero I felt much better and could look at thing pretty rationally.

i am anxiously waiting for my first AF after my d&e. It will be four weeks this tues but I have started to have what I think is AF symptoms so i'm thinking she should show around the 4 week mark. hopefully she doesn't keep me waiting too long.

You can click on my chart below to see my d&c cycle and the one after. I didn't bleed for about 8 days after my d&c, then I spotted and bled for more than a week. Then I ovulated without predicting it because I was still spotting, my temp hadn't really dropped enough, etc. Long story short, I got my period on day 30. Now, I am on my second cycle, and I think I ovulated yesterday, CD 16, a day or two later than normal.

I forgot to mention that my first post d&c period was very heavy. Not scary heavy, but pretty annoying since I was in vegas at the time. I also spotted for two days before it started, which I usually don't do.
