Babies: 9 - 12 Months

If you make your own babyfood, please come in!

What has been your experience with the ease of making it?  I'm planning on starting to make our own but trying to decide if the Beaba babycook is worth the $ or if I should just do the traditional steam & blend...?  What are your thoughts?

TIA!

  • It really is easy. I just dedicate a night or two a week to "stocking up." For me, the Beaba wasn't worth it. I didn't want to spend all that money when what I already had could do the job. I just steam and blend with my food processor or stick hand blender.

  • We have the babycook and I love using it- it makes steaming and pureeing the food a breeze, and cleanup is really simple.  But I know it's not necessary, as many moms on here will tell you.

  • I have been able to make all food with a Hamilton beach food processor which cost me $35.

The Beaba is flashy but not worth the price, IMO!

And, making food is so easy!  So easy!  Plus you don't have all the extra jars to dispose of, clean, etc.  We don't even notice the extra $$ spent on feeding our LO because we all share the produce.

  • Personally I love the babycook.  If you already have a processor you don't really need it - but I love having it. I love not having to clean a processor and a pot for steaming. But that's just me.

Either way - it's super easy to do.

  • I don't have the babycook..I just use my oven/stove and a blender. It saves us so much money

  • Thanks ladies!  I think I'll try using what I already have and if it is too much of a PITA I might just go buy the Beaba!  I can't believe how excited I am to make babyfood.  My life has seriously changed!!!
  • We just got the go-ahead to start solids, but I'm planning on making the majority of his purees.  I think the Beaba Babycook is awfully expensive for something that's so easy to do using a steamer and a food processor.  I'd say save your money.

  • Super easy, and I hate cooking.  DH prepares most of the meals in our house.  I use a standard blender.
  • Save your money! I just use a regular steamer and bought BPA free food storage trays for freezing. I just take a couple hours every couple of weeks or so and make big batches of food and freeze. Easy!
  • SUPER easy!  I bake or steam everything then puree it in a Magic Bullet, DH won't let me spend the $ on a beaba.  Then I freeze it in ice cube trays then put it in freezer bags.

I do it maybe every three weeks?  I make it in bulk.

  • I use a regular steamer or the oven (to bake) and a small food processor.

so easy!  I usually make a batch every 10-14 days and freeze.

  • I said I would try without the Baeba first and it's been awesome! ?I just steam/boil/etc, and use the blender. ?We do have a food processor, but I've liked the ease of the blender. ?Then, I just use regular ice cube trays and once frozen, move them to Ziploc bags that are labeled. ?I have have food for the last 3 months and have probably only spent 17-20 bucks! ?SO worth it!
