What happens if you are allergic to PIO injection?

I am going to discuss this with my doctor, but I am curious because I have a ton of really bad allergies to a lot of things, including many medications and environmental allergies. I am also allergic to latex and bee stings. I have gone into anaphylactic shock in the past. I want to ask him how I will know if I am allergic and what will happen if I can't use it.

  • I think I am fighting an allergy right now.

PIO can come in different types of oil.  The one I am using is sesame.

I am going to ask for Olive oil.

Are you allergic to any of those oils?

  • Hmmm not sure.
REALLY DUMB question- Is it the same as eating olive oil? If it is, then I am fine I guess.

  • Most of the allergic reactions come from the oil it is based in. There are several different kinds, so your doctor should be able to find the right mix that will work for you. If not I was on progesterone suppositories, which studies have shown has the same benefits as PIO. More messy, but the same progesterone support.

  • I had a bad reaction and had to switch to crinone (supposItory) and take keflex. Hope everything is fine, but if not the crinone is a lifesaver!
  • Thanks for your advice!
