I haven't had my first PP AF yet, but I'm venturing into the world of sustainable feminine products. I have a couple Qs...kinda personal but here goes:
Can I wash mamacloth with my CDs?
What is your favorite brand? I was thinking of the Fuzzibunz brand b/c I'm placing an order with PittsCDs and they have them there. Any opinions?
I'll get one Diva Cup to try it out, but if I like it, how many Diva Cups would I need?
How messy are they (honestly)? I'm kinda clumsy sometimes--especially with new mama brain--and would just be mortified if I had an accident while out in public.
Re: Mamacloth/Diva Cup--help please :)
You only need one menstrual cup. You empty it, rinse it or wipe it and put it back in. I cleaned mine out with soap every morning and then boiled with vinegar before I put it away at the end of each cycle. Very easy to care for. They can be messy while you're learning to use it but once you've got the hang they're really actually very clean. I would say to use a liner the first few times you use it so you can figure out how long you can go before emptying on the various days of your cycle (for instance I can go all day by day 4 or 5 but on day 2 its more like 2-3 hours). You can also get a leak if you don't have the seal done properly which also might take a few tries to master.
No advice on the mamacloth. I haven't converted yet. I have about a twelve year supply of disposable liners to get through first....
I put a post on the blog about this recently
You should check it out... (link in siggy)
To answer you. I use the Diva cup. I love it and you just need one. I haven't had any issues with it. I suggest practice

I bought and was totally devoted to using the Diva Cup. But I didn't. I think if I was a SAHM, I'd use it, but in the workplace it just didn't fly for me. (Five minutes between classes to wash hands, remove cup, waddle to sink, clean cup, insert cup, make sure there are not leaks, run back to classroom, end up with leaks...)
Anyway, pp I'll prob. do Mama Cloth. I ordered from this seller on Etsy for my mom (who wanted overnight pads). My mom never gave me a review, but the shipping was quick and packaged very EF! I liked the fabric choices, too!
Edit: My MOM never gave me a review...

You only need one cup.
On a scale of one-ten, then being the most messy, I'd say they are a 6 .
