As much as I think this guy deserves it if it is him, the whole thing sounds fishy. He supposedly pulled a gun, tried to fire, somehow the gun didn't go off, and he got shot in the head??? Sounds like on TV shows when the officers go off on a guy without real provocatin and all 'say' that he was going to get them...
I just hope this is the right guy. It would be good if he lived so we could find out WTF he was thikning, why he did it, and so he can get treated "appropriately" in prison - that's gotta be worse than a quick death.
I work for the 911 dispatch center in S. King Co. and got to work after all this went down in Tukwila..sounds like they will be out there for a while..I sure hope its really him too!! So strange it all happened the same day as the memorial service
A friend of mine lives at those apartments and wasn't able to go to work because he was basically on lock down once the police got there. He had to be escorted off of the property in order to leave and is actually staying the night with us cause he said too much is going on there.

I didn't think he would come out alive or at least un bruised if caught. DH is a trooper and he told me that if they catch him that he will be taken care of.
I guess this guy was a security guard and took classes in Criminal Justice. I asked DH if the suspect possibly knew Officer Benton and he said that he thought it was either gang related, OR a wannabee cop that was pissed he didn't get to be one....DING DING DING.

Police officers take an oath and we're not murderers. No matter how much it hurts to bury a brother who would have died for anyone of us, we don't just blow people away because we're angry. For pete's sake, the officers then risked their butts to then to carry him out of the area with the possibility of additional suspects on the loose, to bring him to a secure area so Medic One could work on him.
This comment makes me upset. TV Shows are entertainment. Yes, there are incidents of police officers doing bad things. But to be able to bring this man to justice was the goal of all the homicide detectives. We all want to know why he did this, and blowing him away without cause would have been unethical, brought us to his level, and left everyone without answers.
The man pulled up next to a police car that he'd tailed all night, and opened fire with a rifle. I don't have a hard time believing he pulled a gun when apprehended. And he wasn't shot the first time he pulled the gun, FYI. He was shot the second time he pulled it out.
And we shoot to eliminate a threat. Head shots and center mass do that.
Please remember there are officers and officers' wives here. The whole story isn't out to the media yet or even to the general law enforcement community. SPD was out there on a tip because the suspect vehicle was located. They were trying to catch someone who slaughtered a friend, not heading out to blow someone away.

I'm sorry for my earlier comments... I know that police are not murderers and I didn't mean it to come off that way... I guess I watch too many tv shows.
I read more about this guy this morning and he sure sounds like a nut job. It's so tragic that he was able to take out his craziness on an innocent police officer...
Again, I'm really sorry - I didn't mean to offend. It was just my first "made for TV" reaction I guess when I read that "somehow" his gun didn't go off...

I didn't read the above posts until just now. I wanted to tell you that I was offended, and I am a police wife. My first thought was this too. I don't feel you made your comment to say "cops are dirty" but more of a thought.
The guy is now being called "A lone Terrorist" because he had bomb making materials, guns and ammo in his apartment.
If you want me to be honest? If this was my husband that got shot, I would hope the WSP would shoot to kill. JMO.

Thanks, I appreciate it. Emotions really run high on this topic!

I totally agree with this!!!
