CPC - Choroid Plexus Cyst

Forward from 2nd & 3rd trimester boards... Need all the help and encouragement I can get. Were any of you told that your baby had a choroid Plexus Cyst and have a positive quad screen? We were recently told that ours did but not to worry because the quad screen came back perfectly normal. How in the wolrd do you not worry?

Any thoughts would help !!!

Re: CPC - Choroid Plexus Cyst

  • You can always get an ultrasound to check for other abnormalities and usually if it is an isolated thing, there is nothing to worry about. Is is both sides or just one? One is more re-assuring.

  • I did not have this-but I had a different "soft marker" at my 20 week level II ultrasound. (dilated kidneys)...my sequential screen was all lowest possible risk, so my doctors weren't concerned at all. I was, of course, and worried over nothing-my LO is perfectly healthy and the kidneys had resolved themselves by week 28 anyway. I have 2 friends that had CPC's and both went away and have healthy children, too. I'd ask for a follow-up ultrasound and try not to worry!
  • I was told the same with my son, he is now 3 yo and has always been perfectly healty. Sometimes I wish doctors would keep some of this info to themselves if they think its nothing to worry about! Best wishes for you and LO.

  • We were told that DS had these - two of them, bilaterally - and I completely freaked out. I also did not get the quad screen so I did not have that to rely on.  We had a follow up u/s and no other abnormalities were seen.  From what I read at the time, if no other abnormalities are seen, the chances that anything is wrong are very, very small.  As you can see, DS was born completely healthy.   I wish I hadnt spent so much time upset about this.  There is a lot of reassuring info at www.choroidplexuscyst.org.  Good luck!

Just an absolute casserole of nonsense.

  • We had a CPC at our 17-week appt and by the time we did a follow up ultrasound at 27 weeks it was gone.  Don't worry about it - they occur quite often once you start talking to people about it.  I know it's tough not to worry, but we had SO MANY soft markers and our little man is A-OK!
