Trouble TTC

update: 1st cycle of clomid

My Dr. put me on Clomid to regulate a luteal phase defect. ?It caused me to ovulate on both sides, and I got a BFP today! ?Dr. tells me it's likely that we'll have twins. ?So excited! ?Just had to share the good news! ?:)

Re: update: 1st cycle of clomid

  • I agree - I wouldn't say it's likely at all.  How do you know for sure you released both eggs?  I had Clomid cycles where I had mature follicles but never released eggs.  And even if you did, it's not a guarantee that either will be fertilized.  I wish you the best of course, but your doctor really shouldn't have told you that.

  • Sorry!  I totally misread your post that you had a BFP.  Well, I'm happy for you on that, but again, not sure you'll have twins.

Why the hell would your doctor say something stupid like that? There is no guarantee that it is twins, nor is it likely just because you released two eggs.

    ?

too bad there is such a bad additude on this board. ?I was trying to share a little good news after we've had a rough road of TTC. ?

I know I released two eggs b/c of the ultrasound my Dr. took the day of ovulation, and from the bloodwork I've had done. ?I disagree with you - I do believe that it is more likely that I'll have twins if there are two eggs there than if I just released one egg. ?It's pretty simple. ?I never said there was a guarantee or even close. ?All I was saying is that I'm just pretty excited about the idea. ?

I didn't know that I would be met with such negativity when posting good news that might uplift other ladies in similar struggles. ?

You know nothing about my Dr. ?Don't call her stupid. ?I appreciate her positivity. ?Being an optimist can really do more than you'd think. ?You should try it.

You call 1 cycle of clomid a long road! I only wish I could have gotten pg on clomid. I actually had four follicles and released them on clomid, if I would have gotten pg that wouldn't have meant I was having quads. Try educating your self more. Your doctor is crazy to make a statement like that.

  • And you already have a child?? What a rough road you have been down!
  • I just want to say Congrats!  I am sorry this thread became negative for you.  All I have to say is that it seems that every doctor and every forum and every website will always tell you different information.  But from what I can tell, frankly science is still just science, and what do we really know in the scheme of things.  All that to say, that I have already learned that adding a bit of humor and optimism (even far fetched dreams) is probably going to be what carries me through this!   I think you deserve a Congratulations and should feel really blessed!  As for your comment on "the long road", I think that no matter whether we have waited a few months or many years, each journey has its highs and lows.   I definitely understand that your journey may have seemed "long" to you.  Its not easy anytime you hear discouraging news along the way, and every single day you wait seems long!  So for you, I think you have every right to feel that it was quite a journey.  So yeah!  I celebrate with you!
  • Well I'm ecstatic for you, twins or just one is a big deal!  Congratulations!!!

  • Congrats!!!!!! I am so sorry that everyone is so bitter towards your success this go around. I am on my first cycle with Clomid and im sure anyone having to receive any sort of treatment to get pregnant has had a frustrating road, I feel that I have. Some may be worse than others but it is no reason to be so rude. I am SO HAPPY FOR YOU! I hope that everything works out beautifully and that negativity steers clear in the future. Just ignore them :)

  • What kind of monitoring did you DR do? Did your DR do ultrasounds on your first round of Clomid? Just wondering because I just started it and all they told me to do was get a blood test 7 days after ovulation.

  • Our second IUI cycle I released 3 eggs - 2 on the left and 1 on the right ovary. Just 1 baby. Just because you released 2 eggs - same ovary or not - doesn't mean you conceived twins.

Yeah, people are sooo rude at the bump community.. That is why I have stopped posting here. I just lurk every once in a while..  I have found incredible support from other websites.
