Now that DD is getting solids 3x a day she is going longer in between nursing sessions. This worries me since they are still supposed to be getting most of their nutrition from BM or formula. But, I guess she is getting a little more milk during her nursing session since she is going longer right?
Re: nursing less since eating solids?
Yeah, don't worry about it. That's what they are supposed to do. As long as she seems healthy.
I doubt my daughter is getting more milk, even though she is nursing less. Seems like she nurses for 5 mins at a session, but she seems to be gaining and is healthy, so I don't worry (she's 8 mos.).
It's hard to say - it seems like kiddo is nursing less but it's been VERY gradual. And we've never had a schedule which makes it even harder.
I'd say if she seems satisfied and you are offering nursing before solids (not right before but maybe within an hour or two), she's probably fine. There was a post last night about how often babies are nursing now - the answers were all over the map which suggests there's no good rule of thumb (like everything else with BFing it seems!).
