My friend started dating my cousin in May 08 and they had a baby in March 09...Right after she got pregnant they got engaged.  Well she told me a few days ago they scheduled the wedding for December 27th of this year...Well I work christmas and the day after christmas...and then the 28th...So I was happy I had off for her day...Then she tells me that LO and FI are not invited due to limited number of ppl...Well I understand that part, but the fact that I will hardly see them of Christmas and the day after I really want to be able to spend that day with them...

Is it wrong for me to tell her thank you for thinking of me but to invite someone else in my place because I really want to spend that day with my family?

    I think it depends on how close you and your friend are. It sucks that your FI is not invited!! You will be able to spend other days with your FI and LO, but your friend is (hopefully) only getting married once. You could go to the wedding and for the dinner at the reception and duck out early if you wanted - I am sure they would understand that. However, on the flip side, I remember being so busy on my wedding day with all the people there to see me, that if some people didn't come, I would not have noticed. So - like I said, I think it depends on how close you two are.

    I personally wouldn't go without my FI. LO I can probably understand because somethings are adults only.

    I wouldn't attend an event to which my DH wasn't invited.  And if you decide you don't want to go, all you need to do is decline the invitation--you don't need to give an excuse.

    I can see not inviting your LO, but to exclude your fiance is a little bit rude. It seems like she is purposely scheduling her wedding at a time it will be difficult for people to attend (thereby cutting down the guest list) and she must realize that. So if you don't go I think she should understand, and probably expect it. Hopefully you can go to her shower and bachelorette party so you can still support her wedding without being there the day of.

    Yeah im really mad that FI is not invited...I understand LO and prob wouldnt bring her anyway...but just how she said it to...She was like well I dont want to sound rude but only married couples can bring there spouses..the thing that got me more mad is that I got her and my cousin together in the first place!
