What's everyone planning on doing after baby comes for birth control?
We want to wait about 2 years before we try again - and Im thinking of getting on the IUD.. but still unsure. I was on the shot before - and HATED it..
I was reading about an non-hormone IUD that sounds great to me. regular b/c pills actually made me depressed and thats why i stopped taking them and how i ended up on thebump! lol
Condoms.... I know super 10th grade but... I love to be the one who isn't leaking all night and I don't like the pill or shot. Best part DH doesn't mind.
I just use the Fertility Awareness Method of checking my temp every morning, cervical fluid, and cervical position. I'm super super regular so this works for me. After having two m/c's I'm really not into medical intervention for prevention. And hopefully BFing will be one way for at least a few months.
Before I was on the patch and really liked it. My system is super sensitive so the pill made me sick every morning while the patch only made me sick the day after putting it on after being off it for a week.

this. we don't want to wait very long in between babes, so when Hayden is a year old in January 2011, we will probably stop trying to prevent a sibling.
Make sure he goes to all the follow up appointments! My neighbor has a 2 year old from a failed snip!
A couple I know very well from church had the DH "snipped" after 3. Well he didn't go back and #4 came along... oops. I guess it still didn't take because not much later #5 arrived!!!
good old condoms and paying attention to my cycle. we want another LO eventually so if the condoms did fail and i got pregnant again it wouldn't be the end of the world, but I don't see it being a problem, we used condoms/cycle watching for 4 years and never got pregnant so I'm not too concerned.
I think we're going to try FAM with condoms during fertile periods. I charted to get pg and my cycles were quite regular - hopefully they will go back to being regular.
We want one more kid. After that (if we do have a second) I think my H would consider a vasectomy.
I hate hormonal BC and my H isn't crazy about it either.
We are doing condoms until I'm done BFing. I would do the mini pill but my doctor told me that it isn't very effective unless you use condoms as well.
For those of you who are charting or plan to use BFing for a while, just be prepared. You might wind up PG again. You shouldn't just depend on your cycles being predictable before because having a baby can totally mess it up. Also, you should use something until AF returns because you can ovulate without her making her return. Take it from someone who got PG while BFing and having no PP period.

Thanks.
My sister had a baby this February. She was planning on using the IUD. Just a word of caution if you plan on getting it soon after delivery- the uterus is still very soft. When they went to insert my sisters, they ended up pushing it through the uterus and into her abs. This resulted in an emergency surgery for her.
I was charting with withdrawl for several years to avoid pregnancy before we decided to get pregnant and will continue with that until DH decides he is ready to get his big snip.
We'll be on the easieset birth control plan there is--the deployment BC. DH in Afghanistan, me in the States...simple as it gets.
I am considering the IUD, though, as we want to wait at least 2 years...and since this LO was a lovely little post-deployment gift, we need to be a little careful.
I'm probably going to go back on the pill. I'd like a different one than I was on though. I was on Desogen and I had high anxiety, which is an uncommon and little known side effect of that particular pill.

We are going with just condoms for at least 6 months (while I BF) and then when she starts weaning i'm going back on the pill. We're not crazy about the low-dose option right now, so we're just waiting.
I cant really decide either, i forgot to think about it until very recently
before i was using the nuva ring and loved it cuz my menstruals are chaos and pills just didnt do the trick!!!! but i dont know it might just be some good old fashioned condoms
We're done after this little man so DH is getting a vasectomy. Totally his choice. Apparently he's potent and I'm very fertil. With DD and the MC we got pg on the first try and once we started trying agian for this one it only took two months once my body finally got back to normal. Not quite sure when he'll get it exactly but if it's after I'm given the green light for sex then we'll use condoms. We did this after DH was born while I was breastfeeding and when I finished that I went back on the pill. I've never had a problem taking it.
Re: Birth Control.
Nothing
Infertility is handy that way.
If I did need BC, I would definitely go for an IUD. Most women I know who have them, love them.
GL!

I'm going with an IUD, I want to try the non-hormonal one, but heard it's less effective.

LOL - I was thinking the same thing.

If i were to have another Lo i would not want to get pregnant for at least 3 years. I will be going on Norplant (sp?)

Yes, you can get an IUD taken out at any time.
