What exactly am i being shown? That your friend now has a child that may or may not have issues due to her cigarette usage during pregnancy? Not trying to be a smart @ss, but who's to say this kid won't develop problems later? JMO
my friend had her baby a week and a half ago... she smoked like a chimney, had her baby at 34 weeks and some days, and the baby had a low birth weight. goes to show you that she is an idiot as is your friend. two thumbs up for both of them...

basically a dumb *** that got lucky...while our other friend tried to conceive for years finally got pregnant...ate great..did everything she should have done and had her baby at 32 weeks...
Goes to show that what? Neh, neh, neh, neh neh....she cheated the odds?
FWIW, it may very well not be that simple. Who knows what posible health complications (asthma, etc.) may come from her smoking later on. For the child's sake, I hope not but, patting her on the back for putting her child at risk is ridiculous.

I am with everyone else here... Goes to show us what?? That we should start smoking so that we don't gain alot of weight!?! I will get right on that...

I am not applauding her I actually think she is a selfish biotch..when I said goes to show you..I meant that how research says low birth weight from smoking and not eating...when she did both and ends up lucky..and probably will never have any problems with her baby but it sucks that other women who do all the right things end up with complications..
My mom smoked throughout all four of her pregnancies. Also smoked in the house throughout our childhood. All four of us have terrible asthma and were constantly sick. Goes to show you...

Maybe you should have clarified before you posted it. It sounds like you are applauding her, even though you aren't.

Exactly. My Lil sister was a normal birth weight & has asthma. Is is b/c my mom smoked the entire pg? Probably, who knows. Why would you even want to take a chance. She is the adult..she is supossed to make the best decisions she can for her child. If you willing put your child at risk knowing it may cause harm, it's neglect in my book. (I'm not saying take her child away or anything) just my opinion. Hopefully her Lo won't have any issues later on down the road.

THIS! I'm not really 100% sure if my mom smoked during her pregnancies with either me or my sister but I do know that her and my dad both smoked around us after we were born and all throughout us growing up. I am suffering from it now with horrible asthma, I live everyday of my life with constant congestion and I am always sick with sinus infections and bronchitis. Do I know for sure this was all related to her smoking around us? No I don't, but I am sure it helped tremendously.
weight is not the only side effect of smoking. Most of the side effects will not manifest until the child is school aged. He is much more likely to have asthma, learning disabilities, weaker immune system and health complications in general.

You do know that one of the most common effects on a baby from a smoking mother is asthma right?
I disagree. Back in the day, before there were surgeon general warnings etc women smoked during pregnancy. My mom smoked with my sister and I. God love her ignorance. Neither of us had asthma. We both were close to 8 lbs. Neither of us had developmental issues etc. And she smoked the Cowboy Killers. She did not smoke with my younger 2 siblings. They both have asthma. They both weighed less than my sister and I.. Go figure.
