Had HSG...

My 1st HSG (2.75 yrs ago) was quite the process, probably 30 mins or so and VERY uncomfortable. It showed blockage of the left side, completely occluded.

This HSG (at another provider, one whom I don't trust very much so I'm skeptical) lasted all of 45 seconds and he said he saw no blockage but wants the Rad Specialist to read the image (single).

Thoughts? Can it really only be 45 seconds long? 1 image? Used only 8mL of contrast?

  • I have no clue but, gl and your Halloween idea is soooo adorable-a bee and it's keepers!  Very clever!

  • Once he had speculum-ed me and threaded the cath through it took less than a minute for me.  Not sure how much contrast he used but it wasn't a huge amount.  He stopped once he saw everything was clear.  I was surprised that it was such a short time.

He didn't take only one image though.

  • Mine was a little longer, but my right tube was partially blocked.

BTW - I totally love your new siggy :)

  • Mine was over 3 years ago, but from what I remember it wasn't that long after he got in there, messed up and had to get in there again.  It certainly was no where near 30 min! (No fun for you!)  I do think there were at least 2 images taken.

  • I never have had one but I'm glad you got yours done!  It sounds like what other girls on the board have been through.  I wouldn't worry too much.

  • Mine was all but a few minutes with the actual dye, but the taking out of the "instrument thingy" that shot in the dye was quite the process and was extremely painful!
  • Once he got the instruments set up and in, it was very very short. I watched it on a screen and he showed it was clear.

    Cute siggy btw

  • All 3 of my HSG's have been nightmares, so I'm not sure my experience is comparable.  Mine have lasted 30-45 minutes.  My cervix is uncooperative.
