I would like to inform my family that I am pregnant at a gathering we are having tomorrow. We are close and I feel comfortable telling them as I know they will be super supportive if I do have to let them know if something goes wrong. My mom already knows, and it's killing her not to be able to tell her sisters or parents.
I'd like any suggestions on how to come out with the news. Should I just do a big announcement? Any cute or creative ways to tell a large group of people all at once??
Re: Suggestions for telling my family at a gathering?
we told our families at Thanksgiving , you can check out my blog for my cute little namecards that everyone got.
An idea that I think is cute as well is to take a family photo and just before it's taken yell "I'm pregnant!" and get everyone's reactions.
With my son, we had everyone (4 ppl) over for dinner and I had bought a cake. On the cake I had my due date written. My sisters asked " Whats happening on May 22,2007 and I said "I'm having a baby!"
Sounds lame on paper but it was really fun
WIth my first, I gave out "invites" to a baby shower for 6 months later at a family gathering..
With this one, I had my son wear a shirt over his halloween costume that said "FINALLY, Big Brother to be.... Coming in June!"
Both were a big success! Good Luck!
Thank you Grings for your thoughfulness, fortunately there is no one else at the family gathering who is trying to conceive. My brother's youngest child out of 4 is 9 years old and they are done having children and my cousin is getting married next summer, they are not trying to concieve yet. Those are those only people who will possibly be in the room of childbearing age.
I like the cake idea, maybe I can do that!!!
I'll tell the fam that I am bringing dessert!! I could have a cake decorated with a stork and my EDD - I think my family would love it
