TTC After a Loss

Would it be stupid to call?

I had a "pre interview" on Tuesday for an Exec. Assistant position. She didn't indicate when any decision would be made for a real interview.

I realllly want this job. it's close to home, the pay is ok and it beats make ZERO like I am now.

Would it be bad/not in my favor to call? I'd say something along the lines of "I don't know if the decision for your final interviewees has been made, but I just wanted to say I was except at the prospect of being a part of your company".

Should I just leave well enough alone?

Re: Would it be stupid to call?

  • I wouldn't call yet, but I think shooting over a quick email in a couple of days reiterating your interest would be ok.

  • Being persistant is always good.. but it might be too soon. I would wait til tomorrow.. that way you gave them til the end of the week. GL :)
  • I always like to give a follow up call or letter thanking them for their time and meeting with me. I usually throw another line in there about how I feel that I am a good fit for the company, blah, blah, blah.....

I don't have her email. She called me when I answered an employment ad through careerbuilder. sigh

  • I think that a quick call would be alright to show interest. I always like to see interest from intervieweeees. (I have no idea how to spell it)

Could you send a thank-you note in snail mail instead? You could send it out today or tomorrow, and it'd probably get there early next week. I think it's always good to send a thank-you, and you could show your excitement and interest in that. Good luck!

  • I once made the decision to hire a girl based primarily on the fact that she was persistent about wanting the job (we had sveral applicants who were equally qualified).

  • You sent a thank you note, right? Right? RIGHT? In the mail, on paper? Written w/ a pen?

  • If you don't have her email, then I think a call is fine.  I'd just give it a day or two.

    GL!!!

  • who is this pre-interview with? is the job a contact job, or did you speak directly with the company's HR?

i think calling today or tomorrow would be ok. the problem with calling tomorrow is they may say "oh we'll get back to you next week" and then you have to wait all weekend plus it may take an extra day or two. but it's your call, i don't think it would be bad form at all.

The pre interview was with the HR woman who I'd be re-interviewing with if I am chosen. i just called and if that is what makes them NOT want me, then so be it. Personally, I'd want an agressive go getter as an assistant, but maybe that's just me.

    Thanks everyone for the feedback!!!
