Moby Wrap FAIL
Is there a website where parents who've failed at the moby wrap can post pictures of their monstrosities? It should be something like mobywrapfail.com. Seriously, the world would be a better place if a website like that existed. Not just for laughs, but for morale. Instead, I have to google images in order to find priceless jewels like this:
In order to make me feel better about my lack of competence concerning the Moby Wrap. I will post a picture of my efforts once I can manage to take one without cracking up, but needless to say, my poor baby looks horribly uncomfortable when I load him in. He looks like any moment he's going to be ejected across the room.
Anyone else have some degree of awkwardness with the Moby the first few go 'rounds? Please tell me it gets better...lol I'm attempting the "newborn hug hold" and the "cradle". The cradle in particular is where I'm having the most trouble.
Any tips? Is it more difficult to get positioning right with an infant than an older baby?

Wow, that is a FAIL.
For the first month I used it, it was a two-person effort. I don't want that disuade any future potential users, because when I got it down, it was a dream. I never used the newborn/cradle hold because I didn't start using it until after I got out of the hospital for gall bladder surgery. It was great for my back, but yeah...it's like origami the first few times.

Hmm I feel like I should teach a Moby wrapping class =P
It was awkward the first 2 or 3 times, but then I got the hang of it and it was so easy!
Seriously...I WOULD sign up for this. I'm not even joking.

There are some instructional videos on youtube.com. You have to wrap it pretty tight. It doesn't seem like you'll be able to fit the baby in.
It gets easier with practice, but even after I figured out how to use it I thought it was too much trouble. I'm using a bjorn-style carrier these days, and will switch to the ergo when Gavin has enough neck strength. (I love the ergo!)
You do need to put them in differnetly for a newborn than a bigger baby. Google the infant cradle hold for the Moby and you'll see videos that show you how.
The key with the moby is to wrap it TIGHT and keep the fabric flat across your back rather than bunched up.
If you're going to the Evergreen classes - bring it with you. The instructors know how to do it and will show you and once you've been shown in person, it's SOOOO easy.
Honestly - it took me a week of using it every day before I got comfortable with putting it on myself.
Now, I could do it in my sleep.

In this video, she shows you how she keeps it flat across your back. BUt this is not the right hold for a newborn. It's still the same wrap, you just put your baby in differently.
