Salaried/non-paid maternity leave

Just curious...  I am a salaried employee, and I do not get paid for maternity leave (other than vaca time - I only had 2 weeks).  Anyway - do you think I should expect to get paid for holidays (columbus day, thanksgiving, day after Thanksgiving) that are paid firm holidays??  I think I should - I'm still a full time employee, and I think I should get my 9 paid holidays, as my employee contract states.  I wasn't paid for Columbus day, and I want to check on the 2 T-day holidays.  Do you expect to get paid for these days??

Re: Salaried/non-paid maternity leave

  • I too was unpaid except for the 3 weeks vacation time I had and I got paid for Labor Day while I was off.

  • depends on what kind of company you work for.  you might mention it to whomever is in charge of payroll and see what they say.  they may not have even thought about it.
  • I would think it would depend on what your status is. Since I had to take a leave of absence, I was not accruing leave or getting paid for any holidays. If I had just been in a regular status and taking leave without pay, then I would have gotten holiday pay.
  • Since I am on unpaid leave, I don't get holidays unless I work that week

  • I am salaried and a teacher.  I don't get paid for thanksgiving or winter break.  IT sucks
  • I don't think my company does, which is exactly why I timed a baby RIGHT after Labor Day and I'm starting again the week of Thanksgiving.  I am also on a Leave of Absense.

  • It depends on the company. I was surprised to get paid for the holidays, honestly.
