I had another u/s today and nothing is changing. I decided to go with the D&C now since its been two weeks and nothing is happening. I have a consult with the dr that would do the surgery tomorrow and hopefully I will have it done friday or tuesday.
-For those of you that had one done, how long did it take for you to recover? Did you have to stay in the hospital overnight or did you go home shortly after?
-How long did the doctor suggest you wait before trying again and did you(or are you going to)?
Thanks so much for your help:)
Re: Decided to get D&C-two questions
I was able to go home about an hour after the surgery. I stayed longer, because I opted to take a pain pill while I was there and they wanted to make sure my body responded well to it.
My doctor said that we could start trying again right away. I don't think that is the norm, though. I think average is 2-3 cycles, sometimes more. We have already started trying. (My D&C was 10/14)
Sorry for your loss and I hope that your surgery goes well. I was nervous about my D&C because I'd never had surgery before, but it was really easy, physcially.
When I had my D&C I was out within a few hours of the surgery. I stayed in bed all day, just because I could. I would have been able to hang out on the couch if I needed to but I chose to be alone and sleep off the medicine.
My OB said we could try after one normal period. It was crazy how much changed in my life after I was pregnant for those ten weeks...so not ready to try again for so many reasons! I don't want to have to do all of this again.
I have also heard that you should wait 2-3 cycles. I think you will know what is right.
So sorry for your loss, this is not an easy time for you.
My d&e was outpatient for me too. I was able to go home a couple hours after surgery. I didn't really feel any pain right after the procedure but I just took it easy when I got home. I did get really bad cramps three days after the d&e that took a few days to get over.
We are not sure when we can start trying again. My OB should be telling us at our f/u appt next week. I am hoping not too long, we want to start trying again right away.
I went home within about an hour of the surgery. As soon as they would let me out of there as I just didn't want to be there anymore.
My doc said to wait for 2 cycles to try again. It was just 2 days ago, so I don't know how long we'll wait.
I felt fine after the surgery but I'm guessing I still had drugs in me because yesterday I was very very stiff and having trouble moving around. Today I feel physically fine.

I am so sorry for you loss.
I recovered very fast from my D&C. I bled for about a day and spotted for less then a week. I did not stay at the hospital long. I got there around 8:30pm and was at home in bed by midnight.
My dr. told us to wait until after my first AF.
Good Luck
I had a D&C last week. I went home about an hour after surgery. I didn't feel much cramping at all but did have light bleeding (very light) which seems to be over now. I have my f/u appointment today. My doctor who is an expert in miscarriages and has researched and written books on the topic told us to wait one cycle before trying.
Sorry you have to go through this.
My last D&C was Oct 7th. It was outpatient and I was out of there in about an hour. I was still graugy from anesthetic. I went home and was fine, I just rested with my feet up that day and the day after. I was pretty much ok after that.
My dr said we didnt have to wait, we had to use condoms for the first two weeks to prevent infection and could ttc after that. But I know thats not the norm. You need to talk to your dr and ask him about your situation. The norm is 1-3 cycles..
I didn't go under general anaesthesia, I got Adavern and Ibuprofen for the pain and was wide awake the entire time. It was done in my OB's office so it was really comfortable and my DH was in there with me. For me, it wasn't painful at all, more like a pelvic exam. It was over in about 20 minutes and I was allowed to leave. I went home and slept the rest of the day. I took the next day off (Friday) mostly to rest, I wasn't in any pain at all.
My doctor suggested we wait at least two cycles before trying again. We are going to wait for two cycles. My D&C was on Oct. 1. The doctor said that I would get AF in 4-6 weeks. I have been pretty regular so I wasn't too surprised when I got it this week at just over 4 weeks. Now one more and we will start trying again.
I had mine on Tuesday. It was outpatient surgery and I was home within a few hours. I have had some cramping and bleeding but nothing too serious and the pain medication helps. I took the rest of the week off of work, probably could have gone back but was able to work from home. Emotionally, I just wasn't ready.
We have a f/u appt in 1 1/2 weeks, however, my OB told us that as soon as I have 1 regular cycle we are free to start trying again. My husband is a little more reluctant to try again so soon but I hope that after talking to OB it will make him more comfortable, otherwise, we will wait until we are both ready.
