Babies: 3 - 6 Months

So tell me, do you and DH 100%, completely agree on LO's name?

DH isn't crazy about how Baby D's middle name is spelled.  I didn't know this until after it was all settled in the hospital.  On the way home he said, "K, eh?"  and gave me an eyebrow raise.

  • We did agree actually- which is surprising. If LO was a boy then we would have had some serious issues. Would could not come to an agreement on a boy name!

  • Yes, we agree on DS's name.  We were team green and didn't completely agree on the spelling of the girls name we chose, but that doesn't really matter.  DS's middle name is the same as DH's middle name and I haven't seen any other way to spell Logan.

  • DH is totally ok with the first name... middle name not so much. I like it though, it's a combo of my sister's and brother's names. It sentimental so who cares  if he doesn't like it Stick out tongue
  • so funny you posted this. i still cant get over my DS first name. in fact, i hate it. but DH promised his dad when he was a boy that his first son would be named Gilbert (DHs dads name, DHs name, now DSs name)

i mean, come on ... Gilbert? really?!..

  • We did agree on DS' name. However, my parents argued for months over my name.

My mom wanted my name to end with a 'y' and my dad wanted 'i'

MOST of my baby stuff has an 'i' but my legal name ends in 'y'. It's nutty.

IF DS had been a girl ... we would still be arguing names. He doesn't like any of my girl names.

  • DH does not like LO's middle name, but it is a family name and it was important to me so he caved. That and we couldn't think of anything else!
  • Yes we actually do agree on Q's name. We decided it a week before I went into labor- we had such a hard time with boys names.

  • Yes x 2.  but the K in baby J's name took some convincing. He agreed after he heard my reasons.

  • confession:

i HATE ds's name. i've been calling him my squishy since day 1 (from finding nemo..somehow it came to mind and stuck).

He's "Coleman Frederick Thomas", named after DH, FIL, and my dad. i hate hate hate it but DH never liked ANYTHING i came up with.

  • It was a name that came up by accident and we just both totally agreed it was perfect.

If we have another boy then we're definitely in trouble...

  • No. DH said I could pick a name if we had a girl, then while I was pg, HE started calling her Veronica.. for a while it was just a joke but I guess it stuck with him. The name is totally NMS, so I said too bad. I consulted with him on the name I chose, and he approved but still wishes she was Veronica. He said I could pick the name!

  • L's name was set wayyy before she was born. we had endless debates and suggestions to each other but in the end, i was the one who came up with her name

I spelled Emilia like that instead of Amelia bc we both have family from the region in italy "Emilia-Romagna" and it was personal since we didnt use any 'family' names.

i guess a simple answer is YES, we both agree 100% on her name.

  • He agreed with me while I was in labor. Contractions are a very powerful bargaining tool.

The spelling was agreed upon the next day after writing it up on the white board in the hospital room over and over again.

  • DH knew I cared more than he did, but would never really tell me what he liked. I kept giving him lists and the only thing he didn't make fun of was Leo, and then once he referred to the baby as Leo and that settled it for me.

However, if it had been solely up to DH, he would have named DS "Jordan Tiger" after his favorite athletes. That was so not happening.

  • FI wanted to switch Ry's first and middle name. I'm not a big fan of using the middle name as the name you're called. My best friend goes by her middle name and she says it's a PITA sometimes.

    He's ok with it now.

  • we went though a few names and either he liked it and i didnt or vise versa.. and then we came across DS's name and both 100% liked it.

    Bahaha, that's great!

  • We didn't decide on their names until about 2 hours before being discharged from the hospital. I let DH name DS. I got to name our DD's. I had a hard time liking DS name, but now I love it. DD is taking a little getting used to. It sounds similar to DD# 1 so I just call her by her NN. So yes, we do. lol
  • well, i chose it and he said, "okay." he wasn't really too vocal on any name. we played around with DS's middle name, but the first name just clicked instantly.
  • we had to come to a compromise, but we didn't totally disagree.
  • DH wanted to call Winnie "Mina" instead...I won that argument since the whole Wilhelmina part was his family name.

  • Nope. I lost the name battle b/c DH didn't want the girl-version of his name. (I wanted Danielle, and he is Dan) We ended up naming her Olivia. Not my top choice - too trendy - Oh well.
  • Yes, we had agreed on the name for our son. There was absolutely NO debate to it since he is Italian and follows the old school tradition that you must name your first born boy after his father (for the boys only. In his sister's case, she should have named her first born after her husband's father, but instead chose my FIL's name as well). Therefore, there are three, that's right THREE grandbabies named Lorenzo and mine has the same last name as DH's brother's Lorenzo. Annnnnnnnnnnnndddddddd to top it off, we go to the same pedi so we are on a "name alert" and have to make sure we identify which Lorenzo is making the appt. (even though they know the difference-they're great!). Oh, and the cherry on top is that we (us and DH's bro's family) are all getting phone calls from Credit Card companies who want their money and are looking for Lorenzo ____________. (the same first and last name as my FIL who is filing for bankruptcy). They call all the time and are non stop. So finally, my DH put my son on the phone and he was cooing into it and the guy was so confused..my husband said "See, I told you he was little...you have the wrong Lorenzo! Grrrrrr to family names sometimes. I know he meant well, but c'mon....really? Three cousins with the same name as my FIL???? I do love his name though!

LOL, as pp said-simple answer is yes.

  • We agreed on DS's name, b/c it was very important to him, but I don't like it.  I just can't stand "John."  I call him J-mon, and DH is acclimating and occasionally does too.  My evil plot is to shorten it to just "Jay" eventually, but it has to be so slow he doesn't suspect...

  • Yep in complete agreement.  Although it took us 3 months of discussing it every single night.

  •  Yes for DS' name, but if we had a girl, we disagreed on the middle name.

  • We agreed before Savi was born. Took a while...but thank god we didn't have to go through it at the hospital.
  • We both agreed 100% on Superbowl Sunday of all days. I asked DH to pick out of 4 options (Penelope, Sloane, Felicity and Adelaide) and he did.
  • We agreed on the first name right away. I am still not crazy about her middle name (it is MILs middle name).

  • Jacob was the only name we both liked.  It took us forever to settle on Elliott as a middle name.  It's my grand-ma's maiden name, she passed away last year.  It took talking about ET to think of it.

  • We agreed on our boy name but not on the girl's name.
