Help me calm down please!

I'm freaking out...I cried the whole way home from daycare today. One of the 5 kids in Marino's class at daycare had H1N1. Honestly, I wasn't all the freaked out about it before, but considering he is still recovering from pneumonia (still wheezing, coughing, etc) and was diagnosed with asthma (which apparently really complicates H1N1/seasonal flu), I am freaking out. I feel like his lungs can't handle another illness right now. I realize there is nothing I can do (daycare is a daycare for medically fragile kids, so they are great about cleaning and trying to prevent the spread of illness). The girl was there yesterday and I'm certain they played together (he loves her). What can I do?!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Crying

    I'm so sorry :( Poor Marino, he's had such a rough time.  Poor Momma.  You're doing everything you can.  (HUGS)!

    do you think your doctor would give him prophylactic tamiflu?

    At the very least, keep a close eye on his temp and if it does anything weird, straight to the doc for tamiflu.

    I'm so sorry. You guys just can't catch a break at all.

    Trish - I'm going to call tomorrow and see about that and possibly putting him back on oral steroids for a week to strengthen his lungs more quickly. I just googled H1N1 and asthma and now I'm crying again.

    I'm so sorry, babe. It's all over the place. I finally found a place to get a shot for Robbie.. it's set for Monday, but you have no idea the hell I've gone through trying to find it. (And had to lie about my address to get the one we're getting.)

    People just have no idea how scary it is for those of us with kids with breathing issues.

    It makes me sad that you have to go to such extremes to get the shot for these kiddos who desperately need it!

    I know how you feel. Brendan was with my cousin all day Saturday she called me yesterday and was diagnosed with H1N1.  He is going to the Pedi on Friday.  I am terrified of what is to come.   Sad  This mom_shit is hard.

    What's done is done.  Unfortunately there is no going back in time to change things.  I think the recommendation to call your pedi is a good one.  You already have a watchful eye on him so I'm sure you will pick up if anything seems amiss.  The fact that your daycare is for medically fragile children sounds reassuring too in the sense that they will know exactly what to look for if little Marino goes into distress of any kind and be able to act on it if necessary.  You poor thing,  you must be going out of your mind!  Prayers being sent for your little boy that you guys can catch a break!!

    i am so sorry.  i swear, worrying about H1N1 is going to be the death of all of us.  when you finally get in for his H1N1 shot, see if they will give you a script for Xanax, & then mail half of the pills to me. :)

    Huge hugs.  Hang in there.  You are doing the best you can & that is all you can do.  Step away from google though--it had me in hysterics today too which is not good for anyone!

    Sending big ((((HUGS)))) your way.  I know you must be scared.  Talk to your pedi tomorrow, and stay away from google if you can.  Hang in there - we are all thinking of you and sending prayers your way.

    I am praying for you guys!!! If it makes you feel any better, I  got H1N1 as soon as I got out of the hospital after my LO was born and I have asthma...I was harsh, especially with a healing c-section! He will be fine. I heard that you start showing symptoms within 24 hours of exposure. Just keep an eye on him Tongue Tied

    Our NICU tested Sarah as soon as we knew she'd been exposed.  She was exposed on a Monday, tested + on Thursday but didn't show any symptoms until the following Sunday.  Maybe he could be tested asap and then again in a few days?
