PSA: don't ever assume anything...

I posted awhile back about being approved for synagis...today is November 4th and I have heard nothing about scheduling his first treatment.  I was told the clinics began on the 2nd Tuesday of November.  So I called...

The hospital had not received a referral from the pedi.  Although insurance has approved it, the nurses at the pedi's know all about it, the clinic knew nothing of it.

Vent...I am tired of having to do other people's job!  So always cover your bases, sometimes no one else will.  A parent is the best advocate for their LO!

    Tell me about it! Our neonatologist - whom we adore - recently got a new nurse and needless to say, she is totally incompetent.  She was supposed to get back to me almost 2 weeks ago to determine when to give Aubrey her Synagis shot.  I finally called today and reminded her.  I have a feeling the whole RSV season could have gone by if I wouldn't have called her!  This isn't the first time I've had to do something like this with her either!  Grrrrrrr is right!

    I am so sorry.  I really don't know why synagis is so hard for doctors offices to figure out.  I had to call DS's doctor every month and remind them to order it when he was getting his shots.

    Yep, I hear this quite a bit.  Last year, we had to do EVERYTHING re: EI services (setting them up), getting on the pedi to submit paperwork, actually ordering the synagis ourselves so that the VNA could come to our house, etc.  You're right... always cover your bases.
