HELP with professional maternity clothes!

I have been searching for some nice work clothes (suit jackets specifically) and I can't find them ANYWHERE. Our Macy's doesn't even sell maternity stuff, Penny's only had slacks and a couple ugly sweaters, and don't get me started on the horrific selection at Sears.

We have no "specialty" maternity stores either like Pea in A Pod or Ann Taylor, so that's out. We do have a Motherhood Maternity, but they only had 2 blazers, one that will NEVER button around the ginormous belly I will have in a few months, and the other was too casual.

Is there someplace I'm overlooking? (Oh, Burlington and Target didn't have anything either in there 4x4 maternity section.) Grrrrrrr. :(

  • I don't have any suggestions, but I think a lot of it will look like crap until you're bigger and it actually fits.

  • JCPenny online. They have a ton of dressy stuff, and you can return it to the store.

  • I'm just planning to wear regular blazers and not try to button them -- I think it will work for a long time, if not all the way to 9 months.  This is what other women have told me they've done.  You can also look at gap maternity online, I think I saw a blazer there.

What I was getting at is that the one from Motherhood looks fine NOW, so there is no way it will work when my belly IS even bigger. I'm more getting at the fact that I'm not even finding OPTIONS, I figured a couple maternity suit seperates wouldn't be hard to find. This has nothing to do with size, I can't even find any in a store in the first place! :)

  • I ordered 3 great maternity suit jackets (all black to go with everything), from Motherhood Maternity back when I had dd.  I'm so glad I have these, because this time the selection is horrible!  I got alot of things from Destination Maternity (which is a combo of Motherhood, Pea in a Pod and some other one too).  Maybe that will help you!  Good luck!
  • Order online.  Much better selection IMHO.
  • sounds like the hassle of buying on line and doing returns if it doesn't work is your option to go with. :(

  • Surprisingly enough, I've had good luck at Ross'. You have to be willing to search through the "junk" sometimes, and the selection isn't huge, but if you're willing to try it a couple of times, it's worth it! I would also suggest waiting to see how big you really get. You might not need "maternity" blazers for a while, but you could get away with a bigger size or different style (i.e. one high button).

*Just realized you've already got one LO, so I'm sure you know about sizes and such. Sorry!
