Yesterday my sore throat turned into a cold I'm sucking back Halls for my throat but am wondering if I can take something more powerful. Sorry for such a 1st tri question!!
I gargled on salt water when I had a sore throat. And drank decaf hot tea with lots of honey. It went away in about two days. Also drank OJ and eat oranges for vitamin C.
I had an awful cold last week, and managed to get myself feeling better in a few days with just lots of tea (my m/w said echinacea was okay!), lots of sleep, cough drops, Airborne, and Vitamin C.
Hope you feel better soon!

My doc OK'd regular sudafed (not the 12 hour ones or anything with a D on it) for my cold. I really wanted cough drops for the sore throat, but I couldn't do those because of the sugar (gestational diabetes) or put honey in my tea, so I finally tried just making myself a big cup of plain chicken broth. It was diabetes safe, soothed my sore throat and the heat helped with the sinuses as well.
I did airborn every 4 hours (got the ok from my mw first) and then sudefed a couple times. I also got the ok for extra strength tylenol or tylenol cold and flu
I have a sinus infection so my OB just called me in an antibiotic. For the symptoms I'm taking Sudafed during the day and Benadryl or Nyquil (liguidcaps NOT LIQUID) at night.

I just got over a cold took Halls, Robatusum (sp?), and tylnol. I hear tylnol cold and sinus is ok to take too.
for just a sore throat, i would drink decaf tea with honey and suck on lozenges do you have a fever? You could also take tylenol for the pain.
I am currently taking Sudafed for my cold (sinus issues and a virus going around) I have a list of my Dr. Approved Medications here it is:
Pain relief:
Tylenol
Cold Remedies:
Sudafed (ONLY)
Robitussin (guaifensein)
Vicks Vapor Rub
Throat lozenges (any brand)
Afrin Nasal spra (three day limit)
(edited because of my pregnancy brain sudafed PE is a no no, reg. sudafed is fine)
All of these. Web MD has a good list of safe cold medications and my doctor agreed they were all okay.
