I think I may have PPD. What do I say to the nurse when I schedule the appt? I know that sounds dumb, but I really don't know what to say besides "I had a kid 8 mos ago and just now think I have post partum depression."
who are you seeing? I would make an appt with a psychiatrist first and foremost, then a psychologist. therapy , even in small doses, can really help. if you can't get into a psych. right away, your family practice dr or ob can prescribe something (though this makes me cringe)
Just be honest. Say you had a baby 8 months ago and you are feeling depressed (or however you want to describe how you feel) and you would like to make an appt to talk to your doc. You don't have to go into details. GL!

I was planning on calling my OB. I guess I never really thought to go straight to a psychiatrist first. I was hoping she could tell me if I indeed have PPD and suggest a therapist from there. I really don't want drugs. I'm kinda scared to take them, but I don't really know why.

If you're the most comfortable with your OB, call her first. She can recommend someone that you can talk to, either for drugs or for therapy.
Good for you for getting help. You're doing the right thing.
