Give me the lowdown, does it hurt? How long did you bleed? I just stopped bleeding a few weeks ago from the c-section so I'm not looking forward to bleeding again! I haven't decided 100%, but I think I'm getting one at my follow up appointment tomorrow. Also, does it affect your milk supply at all if you are breastfeeding?
Re: Anyone get an IUD recently?
I had one put in about 8 weeks pp.
It was no worse than a longer-than-usual pap. I was surprised by how much I bled immediately after it was put in. (To be honest, I got a little woozy after I had my IUD put in, but I don't think this happens to everyone. I suck when it comes to blood...but I don't suck blood. LOL.) ANYWAY...I bled for a couple weeks - then stopped - then bled a bit more - then stopped. The bleeding wasn't the issue. It was the pain. My MW thinks mine "settled in funny" so it was causing me a lot of discomfort. I had it removed after 11 weeks of having it in, went back on BC pills and have been happy ever since.
ETA: Oh, and my DH could feel it during sex. Major turn off.
Geez, I'm hearing a lot of negatives about IUD's lately. I really wish I could just go back on BCP (I guess it would be the mini-pill at this point since I'm bf'ing), but I had melonoma a few years ago and my oncologist doesn't want me on any estrogen releasing birth control. So an IUD is my best option. But I'm really nervous b/c I'm hearing a lot of negative experiences.
My Sweet Girls
I was all set to get one at my 6 week appt...but after hearing all of the Bumpies that have one I think I am going back on the pill! I can't imagine DH feeling it during sex...he was squimish enough during pregnancy! And please no more bleeding or feeling uncomfortable!!
I loved my Mirena last time, and I love it so far this time. I can't remember exactly how long I spotted for last time, but after the spotting stopped I didn't have a period. I've been spotting for 4 weeks so far this time. I didn't feel it go in at all, but my MW is awesome, and it was both my second child and IUD. The first time it was a little uncomfortable. There can be some awful side-effects, so really weigh the benefits. If you have to have it removed in a few weeks and insurance didn't cover much of it, well that would suck.
I love having an IUD
