Is this the beginning of the end? How did your labor begin?

I am 38 weeks tomorrow and am feeling cramping, I've had some contractions the past two nights but they died out and weren't painful, just really tight. My belly has dropped a lot. I am hoping this is a sign things are progressing because I am so uncomfortable. How did your labor begin? What did it feel like?

I had a couple of contractions here and there for a couple of weeks and then the night before I was completely exhausted and went to bed at 8pm...at 3am my water broke and the rest is history! Oh and my mucus plus had fallen out 3 days before that.

My labor began when I went to the potty. I lost my mp and my water broke within seconds. I layed down and 3 laters I started having contractions.

I had no warning. I had a dr appt 12hrs before and everything was quite.

My contrax felt like horrible diahrrea/gas pains. Sitting on the toilet help with them at first. (I was in denial. i thought i just lost my plug because my water didnt break in a big gush I was just loosing a bit here and there and it was greenish brown like my mp because of meconium. Only after things lasted for an hour of the contrax pain and loosing fluid did i call the dr. I was a bit shocked. i was only 1cm at my last ob appt and i was 10 days early.)

But yeah bad bad bad gas/diahrrea pains.

I had some minor contractions the night before but they went away fast. I went to the doctor that morning for an internal and hadn't made any progress in three weeks. That night my water broke - it really came out of nowhere! Even my water breaking didn't cause me to have contractions. I hope this is it for you.

I have been feeling that exact same way since the weekend also. I saw the OB and he told me that I have labor starting, but who knows when it will fully kick in. We are scheduled for a c/s this weekend so if they don't come by then, their birthday will be Sat.

Had cramping for a few days. My mucous plug came out on thursday night and friday night 8pm i was headed to the hospital..Gave birth about 5 hrs later.

I had steady contractions about 8-10 min. apart for almost a week. (I even went to the hospital with false labor once.) I went to the dr. on a Friday at 2pm and was 1-2 cm and 90% effaced. My dr. told me it would be soon but scheduled me an appointment for Tuesday. That night, my contractions got stronger but no closer together. At 10:15pm I went to bed and was woke up at 11pm with my water breaking. I had the huge gush so there was no doubt. On the 30 min. drive to the hospital my contractions picked up big time and were very very intense and 5 min. apart. I was 5cm and 100% effaced when I got to the hospital. I went from 5-10cm in an hour, pushed for 90 min. but DS was stuck in my pelvic bone so I ended up with a c-section.

I've been having gas pains and constant bowel movements for two days now. I've had a lot of diarrhea my whole pregnancy, so I can't know for sure. I have a dr. appt. this afternoon, so hopefully I'll find out what's going on.

I'm waiting too! I've got nothing going on and am so ready for this baby to come! My last doctor's appointment is tomorrow and I have a scheduled induction on Tuesday. But seriously...he can't come soon enough!

i'm waiting too - have had contractions for over a week now...sometimes very close together but at my last check 1 week ago i was not dilated yet, my cervix was just "softening". only 8% of women have their water break before they go into labor so i'm not holding out for that as a sign... just waiting for for contractions every 5 min that last at least an hour according to my doctor. oh and to me, the contractions feel like really bad AF cramps - totally different from BH contractions which are painless

good luck, i know we're all anxious to meet our little ones
