Baby Clothes

I originally posted this on 2nd and 3rd tri but no one answered me.  Let's see if I have better luck here.

My MIL wanted to know what size clothes I need for when the baby is born because my sister gave me a whole bunch of her baby clothes in various sizes.  Her DS will be about a year younger then my DS.  I didn't know what to tell MIL because right now I do have a bunch of clothes from newborn all the way up to 9 months but I don't know if I have enough.  Does anyone know how many onsies etc. you should have for each size.  I know I'll go through a ton of clothes but I don't want too many in one size and end up not using them and not enough in another.

    Honestly they go through things so fast. Some don't fit in nb sizes, some only wear them for a few days. It really depends on your baby. If you have her get you anything I'd say same as pp, probably 6 months and up, maybe 3. Keep the tags on until you're going to use them if you already have a ton in that particular size. There are probably some things your LO won't even get to wear, or wear only once. We had so many cute things DS wore once and never again Sad

    So hard to tell.

    #1 was in 6m clothing until after 1 year.

    #2 was in 12m clothing at 6 months.

    Tell her to get you Kohl's gift cards or something like that. They have Carters, Chaps and Jumping Beans brands for 70% off.

    Both were in NB for a month but I have never had a blow out and #1 never spit up. #2 was the spit up queen but we used bibs.

    There really is no way of knowing until your baby is born. DD only wore NB size things for about a week. She was a big baby though, almost 9 lbs. I did use a TON of onesies, but the Gerber ones run REALLY small so she was in 12 month size by the time she was 4 months old. Just keep the tags on everything until you use them, and if you dont use something you can return them to the store.

    Since like PP said it's so hard to tell, would MIL like to get some other clothing type things you will need.  It looks like you are due in the spring so maybe she could get some sun hats, swimsuit, sunglasses, light jacket etc.
