Do they canonize dogs?

Because I'd like to nominate Lucy for canine sainthood.

Now that Sarah is crawling, she goes right for the dog every chance she gets.  Sometimes Lucy just gets up and moves away from her, but a lot of the time, when Sarah catches up to her, she starts poking at her, pushing on her, petting her, etc.  We don't let her be too rough but she still is all over Lucy like white on rice.  If the baby catches her, Lu will usually just sit or lie there and take it, occasionally giving her a lick.  It's very sweet.  Lucy tends to be a little high-strung but she's very patient with the baby.  Awww.

Re: Do they canonize dogs?

  • This is just like our cat... she is so patient with DD, and neither my DH or I would've suspected she'd be like this. She's usually very standoffish. DD is inch-worm crawling right now and our cat just sits there as her fur is drooled on lol.

  • I'd nominate our dogs too. One tends to just walk away if the kids pester him, but the other one loves it. DD used to use him as a slide and he would just lean over and kiss her. I guess they figure they feel it is their pay back for all the food the kids give them.
  • One of our cats should be nominated as well.  DD goes after the cats every chance she gets, and Kitty will lay there and deal with the fur pulling, poking, and attempts to use her as an object to pull up on.  I'm honestly shocked that she's doing so well with the baby because Kitty is a rescued feral cat who was extremely skittish when we got her.
