1st Trimester

Is 12 weeks too early for movement?

I have a cold and I didn't sleep that well last night.  But I think I felt some movement.  It seems too early, but it was like a flutter or like bubbles on the inside in my lower left abdomen.  I am 12 weeks pregnant.  It didn't feel like gas (believe me I know what gas is like! ha!).  It happened 3 times.  Twice at night and once early this morning around 5:15 when I was up and getting ready for work.  This is my first, but I am very intune with my body.  I hope it happens again.  It was kinda cool.

  • I believe it is too early.  I don't know what it could be other than gas though.

  • I believe it is too early but I swear I have felt stuff too, mostly at night, so I don't know if I am dreaming or really awake.  tI kind of feels like flutters or a kind of a hard to explain sensation.
  • gas.  your uterus is just starting to come out from behind your pubic bone.

  • People say it is, but I think everyone's different.

    I definitely felt some stuff down there last night. DH and I got it on and I had an awesome orgasm (sorry for TMI). When I was settling down to sleep I felt some ticking on the right side of my ute. Almost imperceptible. It could have just been the uterus contracting, though. Time well tell. Literature does say that an orgasm makes a fetus very active though.

    Well I know I was awake at least this morning.  It was just the oddest sensation!

  • Most say it is too early, but I think if you are laying a certain way, and, like you said, very in tune with your body, you might feel something. Don't be suprised/worried if you don't feel anything else for a while though. With DS I felt him first at 16 weeks.
  • HaHa...I lay there at night thinking I am awoke feeling this but then I woke up in the morning and go was that a dream.
  • Speaking as someone who has done this before, that's when I felt DS move the most (throughout my pregnancy)... it was at night or early in the morning.  I never wanted to get out of bed for work because he would be kicking me and moving all around.  It was wonderful.

    For the past few nights I have felt flutters while laying down.  Was it the baby?  Who knows.  But it was definetly the flutters I felt in the 2nd tri when I was PG with DS.  Either way, it's very exciting and something to look forward too.

    {That is, until late 3rd tri when every movement hurts so bad that you just want the baby out as soon as possible!}

  • I too have felt what can only be described as flutters... and I told my DH people would tell me I was crazy... but I have been through this before and I know what gas feels like.  I think each person is different.
  • I started to feel something this evening when I woke up from my nap.It did not feel like gas.

    I was laying on my side, with my hand below my belly on the right side. I rolled on my back, then back to my side, and it felt like a little bubble rolled back and forth.  Every time I did this, the little bubble would roll.
