Babies who don't like to be swaddled..

How do you get them to sleep in their bassinet (or other sleeping space). My DS is 1 week and hates being swaddled. He won't sleep long on his own because he startles himself. He of course sleeps great if I am holding him, but I would rather not have to have him sleep with me. Suggestions?

Most babies struggle when you swaddle them but it's what they need. But I say that as a mom who's baby tolerates me swaddling her. It's the only way she stays asleep! She also likes a pacifer.

Have you tried white noise or a sound machine? It's been a lifesaver for us!

Let him sleep in the swing/bouncer? Sometimes, they startle less if the aren't lying flat on their back.

Ours hates to be swaddled, but we do it anyways. It's the only thing that keeps him sleeping. I don't think most babies actually like the process, just the end result. A pacifier and the white noise machine are magical for us too!

Our little guy never liked to be swaddled. He also never liked back sleeping, so we used a sleep positioner for the first 8 weeks or so that propped him on his side.
