Ah, the things people say without thinking......

So, I have a friend who knows about our IF situation.  As we were talking a little about it, she says "Isn't it fun to just be able to pick out who you want to be your baby daddy"  (we use donor sperm)

Um, WTF did u just say to me you dumb heffer??!!!  Angry

Hmm, I thought I "picked who I wanted" when I married him!

It is so much fun to NOT be able to have your dh's biological child and go through a website of donors, pictures, medical history's, etc...  Are you effin' kidding me!  Needless to say I put her in her place and I don't think she will be making a comment like that anytime soon!

    i just had to pick my jaw up off my desk. that may be the most insensitive thing i have ever heard. i am glad you put her in her place. i think i may have been so in shock if someone said that to me that i would not have been able to speak.

    We decided we'd never do donor eggs or sperm if it had come to that because we knew who we wanted the parents to be (we wanted biologically related to either both of us or neither!)

    Seriously wtf.  I understand that some people really are trying to be supportive and just say the wrong thing sometimes.  I try to not be that judgmental of the comments of people who never dealt with IF because I know that before I was exposed to it I probably would have said some less than politically correct things as well with good intentions.  By why would anyone every say that you were lucky to be going through IF?  I am so sorry you had to deal with that.
