If you have a maid, come in!

I think it's time to hire a maid.  I feel like I just don't have the time to keep up with housework the way I want to, or need to.  So some questions if you have a maid...

What are their prices like?

Who do you use and how did you find them?

How often do they come?

What do they do each time they come?

Re: If you have a maid, come in!

  • Oh, wow! One of the best things I've ever done is hire the housekeeper and I don't even have a baby yet (t-minus 3 months and counting). But working full-time left me cleaning on my time off with no time to do what I really enjoyed!

Got a personal recommendation from a neighbor who's been using her for years. She's $80 and comes every-other-week. She always: mops, vaccums, cleans bathrooms, dusts, washes sheets and makes up the beds and does my husband's laundry (that's $10 extra, otherwise she was $70).  She rotates other things like: cleaning ceiling fan blades, deep-cleaning the oven and microwave, etc. I usually just see that she did something extra but don't typically ask for these things.

    Good luck!

  • $75 every other week. She does all the usual stuff, floors, counters, bathrooms, dusts the blinds, deep cleans the cook top and microwave, changes sheets, makes beds, etc. Then she does deep cleaning of different things each time, last week she did the tops of everything.....fridge, above the cabinets, the high shelf in DD' room, etc. Next time, it will probably be ceiling fan and baseboards.
  • And do you pay each time they come?

  • I too am looking for someone, although financially I can only afford maybe every 3 weeks or just once a month.  With baby number 3 on the way I need a little help getting things done.  I'm in Plano.

  • As soon as I go back to work FT we will be hiring one to come every other week.  She charges my sister $60 every other week.  Ours will probably be a bit more because we have more square footage.  As long as I can keep it no more than $80 every other week, I'll be happy.  If I can't, I'll be calling you, ReJana, to get your lady's info :)

  • I pay 65 weekly. I do not pick up before she comes as we host a big dinner every Thursday night. So she does all the picking up from that and the dishes (usually two loads), basic cleaning, she dusts every single knick knack, frame and shelf every week, sweeps and mops my floors (all hardwoods). She changes all the sheets every other week. I don't know what else she does but it's worth every penny.
  • We use Clean Freaks and they are great.  They price by square footage.  For 2050 sq ft they charge $90 every other week.  We pay each week by leaving a check.  They do floors (sweep and mop, we have all wood); clean the bathrooms, change the sheets, vacuum all throw/area rugs, deep clean our kitchen and dust.  For an extra fee they will deep clean the fridge.  The more time between the cleanings the more they charge.

Who do you use and how did you find them? Absolute cleaning, a recommendation from out neighbor and we love them, I wish we started using them sooner.

How often do they come? every other Friday.

What do they do each time they come? Dust, Vacuum, Mop, Fully clean the kitchen and bathrooms, windows, dishes ( if any), emptry trash, deep clean fridge/freezer (this is if we ask and is an additional $15)

  • Any recommendations for maid services in Fort Worth and their prices?  I'm really only need them about once or twice a month but if the price is right maybe more.

    Thanks for the help.
