3rd Trimester

I know everyone is different, but generally speaking....

At 31/32 weeks is baby usually head down or breech still? I can't tell which parts (head, hands or feet) are digging into my crotch and DH disagrees with my reasoning...so I wanted to know what general position is baby in around 31/32 weeks?? Thanks!

  • I want to say that my guy was head down at that point.  My ob 'feels' his head and confirms it.  I don't remember when they started checking but probably about that time.

  • Mason has been head down since the first of September, I was 26 weeks.  He's still head down now and hopefully he stays that way.
  • Mine was head-down around that time.  I could feel hiccups really low, but I didn't know for sure he was head-down until the doc felt around and confirmed that.

  • Had a trans vag u/s a week ago to measure my cervix (PTL precaution) and we could clearly see DS's foot kicking my cervix. However, according to my pregnancy journal with DD she was head down at this point.?
  • My LO was head down by that point - she shifted around 28 weeks or so.  I could tel right away when she shifted because her hiccups moved.  I feel them really low on my right side most of the time - occasionally they shift up an inch or two but always on my right side.
  • Mine was head down with both pregnancies at that point, but even know baby is head down, I swear I feel like I can feel a head and a butt up top. I just can't figure out what the 2 big round things are on either side when I know DS is head down. It's been confirmed through u/s and by dr internals but still I can't get the picture of what those round things are.
  • We are head down...i think. I have an appointment friday to confirm because he hasn't been most of the pregnancy.
  • I can't tell either. My doc tried to tell at my ~32w appointment but she said it was still a bit tough to tell from the outside. I have a very anterior placenta so it's hard to make sense of head or butt from the outside. However, she said since the hb was loudest down lower, he is probably head down.

  • DD was head down at this point. DS is being difficult and is feet down. I am having an u/s thursday to check his position. Hopefully he will decide soon.

  • my LO was head down at 32 weeks.
  • Baby A has been head down forever, since like 12 weeks

Baby B finally went head down at 30 weeks but I have been cautioned that there is plenty of time for him to flip out of position

  • I'm not that far along, but I just started a birth class last week and the instructor told us that most babies orient themselves to be head down between 28 & 32 weeks. I asked at our ultrasound last week, and our little one is currently head down.
  • my last U/S at 32 weeks we were still Breech.

Dr said he will more then likely flip in time, but another u/s will be done closer to the date to verify.

*fingers crossed* cuz i'm not too geeky about a c section.

  • LO was still breech at 32 weeks but I am thinking he moved head down now. I was very uncomfortable for a day or so and now things feel different. I am feeling stronger kicks higher and tickly flutters lower which I am guessing are from hands...
  • just had an u/s a couple hours ago and she's head down.

  • Thanks Ladies!! I think we are head down too (mostly because of the hiccups) but my DH says that's impossible...hehe like they know everything! I googled it too and like most of you guys say, between 28 and 32 weeks the babies shift. I just wanted to triple check I wasn't crazy.

    Thanks!

  • My LO was head down by that point. I could tell by where I felt his hiccups...and it was confirmed at my 33 week ultrasound.

I have *no* idea when he got into that position, though.

  • mine has been breached the whole pregnancy. the doc doesn't seemed too concerned about it. he can tell by listening to his heartbeat. if he still thinks he's breached at 38 weeks, i'll get another u/s to make sure.
  • I'm only 29w, but she's breech.

I read that a very small percentage (4%?) are breech by birth and a doctor can palpate and tell you without an ultrasound.

My OB thought that it was the head she was feeling last week, but it turned out to be his butt!  My LO is in a breech position and has been that way since around 27 weeks.  But, I think I just have a stubborn baby!!

  • My LO is head down. I thought so because I swore I was feeling feet in my ribs and hiccups low for awhile. MW confirmed this week.

  • There can still be a lot of movement going on at that point. DD was breech at 28 wks, head down at 30 wks, breech at 32 wks, and at 33 wks is head down again- but I felt her flip twice over the weekend.

DS was head down from 20wks on.

  • DD is definitely head down. Between the hiccups and the kicking in my ribs, it's unmistakeable.
  • My doctor said about three weeks ago that LO is head down.

  • mines been head down since we started checking
  • I am 33 weeks and my LO is still breech. Every visit, they do an u/s so we know exactly where she is. If you feel a lot of kicks down below towards your vagina, its probably her little feet.  Sometimes my LO feels like she is going to kick right thru and I'm going to see one of her legs dangling out from my lady parts one day.
